and the one about cold plates (cold meals for hot days) is the first one I've ever printed out. Page 1 on here was actually 5 pages printed out and page two on here is two pages so far.
I never realized how much was on each page of mylot until I printed it out.
I want to be ready for next year's hot weather. I'm afraid I don't be able to find it next year, so I'm printing it out now. I'm putting it with the rest of my recipe folder of print outs for things I really love.
So have you ever printed out a discussion? Do you remember what it was about and why you printed it out? My computer usually dies when I need it most, so I figured on a really hot day, it wouldn't work to get the recipes even if I could find it again.
This year we had 81 days of 80 degree heat or higher. That's 2 more days than a record set in the 1800s. They say this will probably happen again next year. So I'll be prepared.
So were there records set for weather or anything where you live?

Well, the later part of 1800s up here to 2012 is a long time to be sure.
It's hard to imagine Texas beating its heat spells.

Not really, but I have saved a few discussions that I found interesting or that had some information I wanted to take a better look at.
I know what you mean about the size of articles online, they seem small until it is time to print. I have wanted to print out articles before that I then did not because well, when the page amount came up it would take too long.

It's amazing sometimes isn't it? I just wanted to print an article on a solar cooker. There were very few words and lots of pictures. 30 pages came up and I thought about the amount of ink for those huge pictures with lots of metal in them, discouraging.
Thanks and take care.

I do not print out discussions. I cannot afford the ink to do this. So if it is something important that I am really interested in I try book marking it. As for our weather here it took forever to warm up but since around the first of August it has only rained here once which has been nice. Just hoping it don't bring a cold winter.

I agree on all those points except that I can't bring my computer to the stove to cook,so I do print out recipes on occasion or copy it by had (if it's a short one) onto 3x5 cards. Often my computer tends to quit in hot weather. So I've been here for years and I've had thousands of discussions. This is the first one that I ever printed. It was interesting.

i am probably up there too but no, i have never printed out any discussions. i have flagged them on my yahoo though for article ideas.
i think we had more hot days than we have had in a long time here where i am in Canada, but at least now, the nights are getting cooler, even if the day gets hot still. fall is on its way for sure here. yay!

Oh I have not done any printing of mylot discussions. It is good that you are keeping a file and putting all recipes and everything of your interest. I think it is very cute. yeah in summer you need to do something to keep cool. Nice style. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

My interest in recipes tends to be different from most people like wild, foraged plants, etc. So I do tend to print out recipes, esp since often when I try to go back, even into favorites, sites have often expired. Thanks and take care.

I have never printed out Mylot discussion but I have done discussion pages of other news site just to read later. It is a great idea to print out important discussion that you really value a lot.

Plenty of record set, but I can't recall any. No I don't believe I ever have printed out a discussion, but I imagine it would take up a lot of space. If the printer did work (I think it just needs ink) I'd be printing out coupons to use instead.

I don't print out coupons because I get the newspaper that has coupons and the cost of ink and paper would eat up any savings unless I had a triple coupone day.
It was surprisingly long.
Too bad you can't remember the records, that would be interesting. Thanks and take care.

I've never printed out anything from myLot... or bookmarked a discussion on here, for that matter.
I know that we have set some weather records here this year, but I don't remember which ones we broke and am feeling too lazy right now to look it up. The temperatures have now shifted in such a way that I think that we are very definitely in autumn. I think that the heat was running like every 30-45 minutes last night--and I had it set on low.
Sounds like the printout of that discussion is going to be a small book. That is a good idea, though, to print it out now so that you have it all ready for next summer.

7 pages of cold plate ideas for our next heat spell is pretty cool!

I've never printed out a discussion, but I have bookmarked a few that were so interesting that I'd either want to return to them , or perhaps use them as springboards for articles or other forum posts.
With your own discussions, they're always stored on the 'started' tab. It would be easy for me to find a year-old discussion, as I respond to a lot more than I start, but it may be difficult if you start more than two or three a week. It's probably best to print it off and keep it in your recipe folder, as you did.
The reason it ran into so many pages is because MyLot discussions run 10 responses to a page, no matter how long or short the responses. I have a discussion running where two boxes on the first page each have at least 6 comments in them, but the second page just has the responses and my comments, so I'd imagine it would take about three times as much paper to pring Page 1 of the discussion.
As for the weather - we've spent the summer in Spain, where the Costa Blanca has had the hottest summer in 80 years. In southern and western Europe, only the UK has had a cold, wet summer.

I have over 7 thousand discussions. It's not that easy to look thru them to find one from a year ago, to say nothing of the ones I started years ago.
My computer doesn't work well on hot days when I need a hotplate.
I've crashed one computer since I started mylot and couldn't get anything for a long time.

I do not print the discussions. In fact when we collect the information -- discussions, responses, replies, comments -- we can make out an article separately.
Regarding weather - yes this year it is hotter in usa as compared to 2011. i was in usa in 2011 and also 2012. right now in canada it is a hot day only. Right now 54 deg. today's temp 77 deg F.

If my hands didn't hurt after answering discussions, I could just write them on recipe cards.
Thanks for the weather report, I have lots of Canadian friends on Mylot. Take care.

no i have never printed a discussion, though this is mainly because, and i don't know if this is a specifically uk problem, but it could well be, it is very easy to buy a very cheap printer, but the ink cartridges are very expensive, and then the printer never works again when you try to replace them.
i thought it was just me with this problem, but it turns out it isn't.
as to weather, i think here in the uk we may have broken some records on rain this year, which is sort of different to the records broken where you live.

Where I am in my part of the USA (New York State--NOT the city), if you buy an expensive printer, you might be able to get cheap ink. But cheap printers, really expensive ink. That's why after thousands of discussions and years of being here, I've only printed out one.

No I have never done that yet. I think there was like one or two that I should have but never got around to it, it's just a hassle to bring the printer in here with s little room and no desk area for it, so I have to lay it on the bed next to this take cause it's too small for it. I don't think there have been many records set for the weather here lately. I don't remember if it did but while I was in the hospital they said it did get pretty darn hot that one day (I was not outside so I don't know how it felt). I just can't remember if it was a record or not.

My husband has a huge desk that he got from his Mother. So everything fits on it. We're lucky. Also there tends to be space in old farm houses, just not much for closets.
I remember one day when I was a teen, it got to 100 degrees outside. 90 is considered really hot here. That one day will probably not be beat. But the other days are up for grabs.

I never pronted any discussion yet so far. Although, I have also a filing of some of my discussions, but they are just kept in my computer. About the weather, we are already experiencing some cold nights already. Maybe its beacuse of the coming of the Christmas season.

We're having a pretty early fall or autumn here. Maybe after you've been here and had several thousand more.
