My daughter is 16 months old and her and I are taking a 5 hour trip in the car to go visit my parents this week. Normally my husband goes with and drives so then I can sit in back with her to help keep her hppy. She's never been a fan of the car seat and especially at this age when all she wants to do is run around. I have a dvd player and give her books to help. Its going to be hatder this time with me going by myself. Its hard because her seat faces back so she cant see me and I cant reach her too well. We obviously will stop a couple of times too. Am hoping it's a smooth ride there. Any tips you have for car rides?

My first suggestion was going to be a portable DVD player but I see that you already have that covered! If that doesn't entertain her long enough and she gets tired of the books you could try bringing other toys that she likes playing with at home as well as some coloring books and crayons. You could also try talking to her while you drive and when you stop, take her out of the car and let her walk around for awhile. If you're really lucky, she'll fall asleep for awhile!

Well great to hear about your baby's first experience inside a car. i can suggest u to carry some toys and playing items for your daughter so that she remains busy with them while covering the distance as well. Also play some good cartoon songs so that it will create an apt environment inside the car for your daughter. try to take stops at different points so that she does not feel exhausted with the car journey.
What say?
