I am leaving this evening to go to New Orleans for the AARP Convention. I am very excited as I enjoy the AARP Conventions but I also have never been to New Orleans. I hear that it is a great city with lots of great music and food. I am going to the airport late tonight and will have to spend the night because I leave so early in the morning. I hope that there are others there with me.
I will have my iPad but I usually don't post much when on vacation. i try to do at least two mylot postings every day, usually just responding and commenting.
I will take pictures and upload some on my return. Have a good week.

Hello friend,
Sounds like a marvelous opportunity. I hope you come away with lots of interesting things to use on here for discussion. I don't have a laptop or an iPad, but I do have a Kindle Fire which gives me wireless connection to many things but it is like texting, a bit of a slow communication. So glad you are taking a cruise, hope it is good since the water on the Mississippi is so low right now. Take lots of those pictures and have a marvelous experience. We'll all be here when you get back and some of us will be on Facebook too. Looking forward to hearing about your adventure.

I am jealous. I have never been to an AARP Convention (although I have been to New Orleans). Lots of interesting speakers and events going on at this convention. Will you be going to the concert Saturday night?
When I go on vacation, I also take a vacay from cyber-life. Probably why I only have a desktop -- no need for the portability of a laptop or tablet. I figure the internet will go on with or without me, and it will still be there when I get back.
Have a grr-r-reat time!

The concert Saturday night costs $125. I am not willing to pay that for anyone.
I have paid for a dinner / jazz cruise up the Mississippi. At the convention, Concord Records puts together some good music showcases. This year they will be having musicians from the HBO series Treme including others. I love the movies and will see a few of the movies presented.
Then I do plan to explore New Orleans. Any suggestions. My hotel is on St. Charles Avenue.

Have a safe trip and go to the Cafe Du Monde and have a beignet for me.

Is it the spices? Try to sip some ginger ale. I don't want you to get ill. Oops , my Jewish mother is showing, lol! The beignet is like a donut so that shouldn't hurt your tummy. Have fun. Take Care.

I will try to get there on Sunday. I am going to French Market on Sunday. This evening I am going on a dinner / jazz cruise.
Tomorrow and Saturday is the convention. I will be at the convention both days. Lots of good movies, speakers and a trade show. The convention this year is less flashy than other years. I guess the economy.
I have been over eating and having some stomach issues. Trying to eat a little less today until my evening dinner cruise.

It sounds to me like you are in for a good time. Now I have never been to New Orleans and I am far too young to be in the AARP but a vacation right about now sounds like a great idea.
I know that the partying down there will not be near the caliber of partying during Mardi Gras, but from what I understand there will still be partying down there.
I hope you have a great vacation and that your travels are safe.

I am having a very good time. New Orleans is more expensive than I expected it to be. The economy is bad. I would have expected bargains and low prices but I am only in the neighborhoods that tourists visit.
Tomorrow, the AARP Convention officially opens. They seem to have downsized themselves. This convention is not as flashy and splashy as previous ones.
Tomorrow, I am taking a dinner / jazz cruise on the Mississippi River.

I am already here. I got here early and my room is not available yet. I am really beginning to like the place I am very tired from the trip and wish my room were ready. I had some great food next door but it was a splurge. I can not afford to spend so much every meal.
New Orleans is also known for music.
