Avatars Make Our myLot Life Fun!

The first thing after joining myLot that I wanted to do was add an avatar! I couldn't think of a better way to make myself stand out than that. I had a different picture for awhile, maybe some remember? It was a picture of a brook with some bible verses on it. I really liked that one for what it was but then I thought - I want something more fun and cute. That is when Mr. Owl came in! I see a lot of people old and new with still that green picture. It makes me wonder - Why? I can't see many people really liking that glaring green color and that white guy standing and looking... weird, mostly. One of my goals here on myLot is to stand out! I want to be one of the users that people notice and want to discuss with and perhaps learn from. Why not bring in your own avatar today and make myLot an even more diverse, fun, and non-boring place with all kinds of personality in our discussion and our pictures. That's my challenge for those without an avatar, today.

I do remember, actually; and for some reasons your old avatar helped me remember who you are more than this new one... To me, avatars help in recognizing users here. There were times when glitches happened here and the avatars were gone; that's when I have to keep going back to user's profiles if I want to find out who he/she is...

Odd, I thought the cute owl would be much more memorable. Yours I remember though and then I know who you are too. myLot without avatars... that is something to ponder on. It would make the site look a lot different for sure, it might be confusing like you said, or just like madness, text, everywhere!!

I also had a different one when I first joined here. I changed it when I noticed similar ones existed here already. As soon as I changed, I noticed my old avatar was used by several new users. I guess my choice of first (generic) avatar was quite common to new users. I have had this one since with no plan to change as I have not come across similar ones.

Had a bunch of copy catters I guess huh? **chuckles** No one thing is for sure you will likely never see another avatar like the one you've got now. For some reason it makes me think of something spooky even though I know it is just a toy.

I added an avatar after several months at myLot when a friend told me that I needed an avatar "to have a personality." I think that I had a personality without an avatar, but I added one because it is more easy to find quickly a discussion started by a member when browsing the interests. My avatar is a forgotten 19th C. writer that I like, and I never changed it -- I have only one personality --.

@visavis - No of course not! That's fine too if you want I just mean to have a picture up so it isn't that same green one for everyone. Personal picture is fine too

True, we can always have personality in our writing! I always wondered what your avatar was though. No offense but from what I saw it looks like someone out of a fantasy novel Did he write fantasy? Perhaps just because it is a small picture that it makes it seem that way. I couldn't see some people on myLot with different avatars though, that might be odd! Like mysD for instance...

Hello friend, If you can see my avatar is my own picture why? because I want to stand up from own identity meaning not hiding any other picture which some said remember or like them. Ok I understand that, some are said for safety reasons their own opinion no against it. However, avatar is a mask of ourselft would be hiding or affraid to show something from us.. Sorry but this issue is long long before... Anyway as you said "life fun" hiding in our own avatar the happiness we are looking...

I just collecting the word you mentioned abouve insecure. Which normally I feel those people that they are hesitant to show our own picture other than we are affraid for something. I don;t want to tell this because I have no right because I believe those people has hesitant for his/her picture is lack of self confidence...

I see no problems with having your own picture up if you want, I prefer not to though. For me the picture is just for fun and because I think it is really cute I would feel differently if my own picture were up on myLot, maybe I might be insecure... then I wouldn't post as much

Yeah, but its a good thing I don't especially need self confidence here in myLot like in real life. I just am here to have fun and earn a bit while I do so.

In my opinion, the avatar is too small. It's only 60x60. I would be happier if they increase the size to 100x100

As for example, in order to make *.gif picture moving, you need to resize it to 60x60. That pic may lose some of its details because of that. @sishy7 Yes, I am :P. You should be able to check my former avatars in my profile, since I always uploaded it. Don't worry, my profile now is banner-free since myLot lost it all

You used to have that one very tiny bug running around, didn't you? I remember thinking there was something on my screen and tried to get rid of it; only to find out it was your avatar...

Ah I see, gotcha. Yeah some details may not be seen with just the 60x60 Like your sub zero that looks a little blurry?

I remember mylot members and discussions by username, the avatar doesnt matter much for me although I agree with you that avatar can give a contribution to make the profile looks fun and unique. But I can memorize people from their username or reply, there is a mylotter member here who doesnt put an avatar but I can memorize who is the person from the username and the posts. I sometime changed my avatar with my handmade item, any picture of my crafts as long as I take the picture by myself because I want to represent myself through my handmade or craft.

I do remember your username too, you have unique username somehow almost similar to mine. I was about to use Fashion Forever as my username but in the end i chose fashion fever as my username because im so crazy of fashion. Thank you echoforever, actually it is because i like fashion, accesories and doll so much but I could not afford to buy so I decided to make it instead buy it. By the way what do you think about members who often changing his/her avatar? Do you have problem memorizing their profile if they changed the avatar?

I always notice your avatar when I see you in the site. I always liked it cause of the unique looking stuffed animal. I didn't know it was your craft until now and I admire you for that work and that you're representing it as well as yourself. I can usually pick out certain mylotters by their name but the avatar is helpful. Others I won't remember because I don't see them enough to memorize either one.

I think fasionfever fits well with you if you're crazy with your fasion and craft tasks! I don't mind if users change avatars. I usually remember the username also. If not I will remember by their typing maybe? A personality in myLot can also show and help me remember them, sometimes.

I always use the same avatar! Oh, I have ever changed my avatar once, but that's only one time. I used a coffee for my avatar. But then I thought, how can Miss Piggy doesn't use Miss Piggy's picture? I always love Miss Piggy, she's cute and confident. That's really represent me I think. Bwahahahah...

I love Miss Piggy! I agree with sishy that it will be even easier to recognize you with the two matching. I've seen you on occasion and admired your Miss Piggy avatar. So I guess we can always recognize you for that one since you feel you will not change it

Hi Hatley! I always notice your avatar that it is always similar - or has been since I joined but usually different colors! I love that. I always wondered if you had a place where you search the same type or make them. Now I know, you make them. I almost added about you in my discussion but I remembered something in the guidelines that mentions to not single someone out in your discussion - so I did not do that. Happy to see you here though so that I can tell you

the avatar is choice..We can`t push them for changing the avatar.. Sometimes the avater have no meaning.. So just follow what their discussion, their opinion and not because of their avatar.. I use my national flag..It`s clearly show that iam indonesian..Just all the meaning i put my current avatar..I don`t know if later i change my avatar..But now,i think it`s suitable with my wish here

It is a choice but I think it looks better plus I think its a better option! Of course that's my opinion. It has no real purpose...

Since my activity here is based on what interests me rather than who has initiated the interest I don't get affected by the different avatars that users post here. I keep changing my avatar. Even if one were to go by who has posted any activity we know them by their ID.

A fixed avatar will no doubt make it easy for anyone to recognise a user faster and only those who give preference to certain users will find this useful.

I see, I don't necessarily write on people's discussion just because I know them either. I like to look for various topics that will interest me. I find it hard sometimes to relate to some topics but I always try to look through all recent discussions to see what I can find.

Sorry I disagree. The avatars can hold a different aspect for the user than just recognition to its common followers. It can break the manatony of walls of text and generally bring a smile to someone's face if they like the avatar for instance...
