Animal lovers - Help me understand, why are there people out there who loves...

...animals so much that they feel sad when they see abandoned dogs & cats, lose sleep about abused dogs, etc. But when treating the people around them, they are unfriendly, untrue, unkind, unmoved...
Don't get me wrong, I do feel sad about seeing abandoned cats & dogs, etc. But I would think that people who loves animal that much would have even more respect for fellow human beings around them??

Well put, simplyme. And also, I think that some of those animal loving people are somewhat anti-social and don't really get along too well in society or just have some sort of dislike of it. I'm not talking about all animal lovers, so nobody jump down my throat, please. But for some people who don't socialize very well, it's easier for them to "get along with" animals because of their loyalty and lack of demands on their "friends".

Well, you know that way back before there were any social service organizations to help people, there was the SPCA. When the first social workers (called friendly visitors) needed a way to help needy children, they went through the SPCA. Animals were being helped before children! Strange, but true. In answer to your question, maybe people feel like animals are more helpless than people. Most people can speak and reason, and so might be better able to get what they need; help themselves. Animals, on the other hand, are not able to ask for help or get a job. We humans are a funny lot.

yeah! generally those who loves animal are very loving and gentle...to my understanding..if they cant bear to hurt an animal..i dont think they can be that cruel!! Why, my friend? bad day at work?
