Applesauce and Mayonnaise! It doesn't matter if you're using a mix or baking a cake from scratch, you can use these ingredients. The applesauce takes the place of oil. If the recipe calls for 1/2 cup of oil, use 1/2 cup of applesauce. Tastes great and makes a lower fat cake. Mayonnaise replaces the eggs. Use about 1- 1 1/2 tablespoons of mayonnaise per egg. Have you ever re-purposed ingredients?

I have used applesauce in the place of oil when making brownies. I have not used it in a cake mix and have not use mayonnaise, but I love to experience and will see how it turns out.

I've used applesauce and yogurt in muffins and brownies which was really good and moist. I will have to try it with cake. I've heard of using mayonnaise but have never personally tried it. Now I want cake!
