Does Islam show the same respect for other religions and their god(s) or prophet(s) as they expect others to show to their prophet Muhammad?

Yes , we respect all prophets from Adam to Muhammad peace be upon them all , we love them also , we will angry if somebody insult them , do you know that any Muslim make film or drew carton about Jesus , Moses , Abraham .... etc ..? why ? because Islam ordered us to respect all .

I can't recall any insults by Muslims of those you mentioned. Thank you for responding.

It's the extremists many folks are concerned about (and think governments should be too!) ..the ones who say all others are infidels and you can kill or do whatever you want with them.. These same ones so far kill more nonradical Muslims than any one else.. I think all should be gravely concerned, pun intended (and to say the least).

If Islam has taught that you should be respectful to the gods and prophets of other religions, I would have to wonder just how faithful those extremist are to Islam and Muhammad.

I do think, they do respect other religions. I had confirmed this when I stayed in a Muslim country for a year.

That's good to know. So if I go to live in a Muslim country, I'll be able to practice my Christian faith without the fear of retaliation.

The Christian here , going to their church every Sunday , pray , and go to their houses without any one do something to them , we are live here from many hundreds years together . You know : some women converted to Islam , the church took them and we don't know anything about them to now , Is this the freedom of belief ?

For Muslims all prophets are respectful as prophet Muhammad is. We do not differentiate between any of them. Also we are required to not insult any other religious deities as ordered by the Quran And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah , lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do. (6:108)

Islam respects all other religions, and does not interfere in the beliefs of others, so the others should not speak about the prophet Mohammed, including abusive and hurt the feelings of Muslims.

I don't see anything wrong with another religion pointing out differences they have with the Islamic faith and trying to woo Muslims to their faith. Some might see that as interfering. I don't. I see it as a strong belief in your faith and a desire to share it with others. Of course, one should be careful how he speaks about another's prophet. Insults don't usually result in converts. I would say those who insult aren't looking for converts only derision.

You cannot condemn a whole nation of people for a handful of dissidents. People like to generalize and when you generalize about people you stir the pot of dissension and everyone rushes to defend themselves. One should never have to kill and hurt those who do not share your beliefs. That is wrong in ALL faiths. Rather, try to educate the person if he cares to listen. If he does not care to listen, leave it. You can help save the world by always listening to other people's views and opinions and share good comments of your own... just like this writer is doing now. I love Islam and I love God and Muhamad and Jesus and all prophets, and whether they are Muslims or Christians or Jews, they are the people of the Book.

You sound like, go along to get along. My question was about Islam not Muslims. I have been told what the religion of Islam says about respecting other religion's gods and prophets. I'm not sure how you equate my question with stirring "the pot of dissension."

We are taught to respect others for their beliefs, because they are their own. We believe Adam, Moses, Abraham, Jesus, and thousands of other individuals (peace be upon them all) were prophets, aka messengers of God, aka humans chosen for the specific purpose of delivering God's Word. We are told to live as they have lived, as righteous, God-fearing people. I even get offended whenever Family Guy makes inappropriate portrayals of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him), not just when someone makes an offensive comic or statement about Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). I think the expectation you speak of is fair, but it's not like "respect or die" as extremists may have you think. Ultimately, we expect other Muslims to revere the prophets as we were taught to, we don't really expect it from other people who may not have ever known about them anyway. God forgive me if I'm inaccurate in anyway, and I hope I have not misled you or confused you further. Peace.
