They threw them even after they stink

Whenever we want to get rid of clothes we donate them. My Grandma will donate them to one place, and then they have the buckets or bins in places around here. My brother and his wife bring over clothes that their cat kept peeing on, even after washing them they stink. Instead of throwing them out, he brough them here. Our cats smelt it and peed on them. So my Mom washed them, I told her once a cat pees on something so many times it stinks forever. They cant smell it, and cat pee is strong almost burns. I told them they stink throw them in the garbage, same with my younger brother sleeping bag, and a cat bed. My Mom's one cat was peeing on everything, I threw it outside because it stunk, and they wont throw it out. So we stopped today after work and she pulls this bag out. I thought are you serious, she threw it in the bin for donation. Just like smokers who stink, just nasty just because they dont want to throw them out, or pay to take them to the dump which in a few weeks we would of had a truck load to the dump anyways.

Sometimes people get so used to a smell they can't smell that it stinks. When you told your mom it stunk she should have taken your word for it and thrown it out. To me that's just rude to put it in a donation box or bin somewhere. Even if the donation center washes it, it's still nice to have it washed and actually clean. If she washed it and it still stunk she should have thrown it out or repurposed it somehow.

My brother wife washed them, she brought them over here because they stunk so badly. She had washed them, and they still stunk so she threw them in the bin. Once a cat pees on something especially clothes teh smell wont come out.

It is, and it never really goes away. If you don;t catch it right away. I know the tom cat they brought inside was spraying outside the house. It just stunk when you walked by, Im sure if I didnt clean it up the neighbours would of been coplaining.

Yes, that is seriously nasty. Hopefully, you will be away from all of that craziness soon.

I cant wait for that day, I think my life would be just so boring without them doing so many stupid things. But I feel sorry for the place that has to go through it, plus it sits in the bins for months. So I'm sure they will be throwing out a load more than just the 1 bag.

You are so very right about the smell of cat urine. I believe that is the reason that most of the time you can walk into the home of a person that has cats and you will immediately know that they have cats because you can smell that distinctive and nasty smell. As for me, I make sure that anything that I donate is perfectly clean before I will take it and donate it. However, I only throw things away when they are stained and torn up because only at that point are they beyond usefulness.

I think even if it's going to be donated, a giver should still think about the best for the one receiving. Giving should come from the heart. They should give the clothes if it's just because they want to get rid of them.

I agree, she just wanted a free way to get rid of them. I tried explaining that they probably have to throw half or all that bin out now. It sits there for weeks even months before the company comes and picks them up.

I had a cat once that peed all over everything too. You are right that smell never goes away. It would have been much better for them just to throw out the items rather than letting the place that takes donations do it.

Exactly, and they probably had to throw out a lot more items than just the one bag.

the shelters do not take anything that is dirty or stinks, after all, even the poor have some dignity.
