This week two videos have surfaced showing each of the Presidential Candidates making a statement that defines the central issue in the campaign. President Obama in 1998 states that he believes the government should be redistributing the wealth of the country so that those who have less get a part of the wealth of the nation.

Gov. Romney in his comments states that 47% of the people will vote for President Obama because they believe in government entitlements. People who believe that the government should take care of them and others in this country are some of the people who will vote for President Obama and you can't change their minds.

It seems to me that we have a choice this election do we want a person as president who believes in taking from those who are successful and giving it to others. Or do we want a person who wants everyone to have a chance to be successful and share in the American Dream?

All policies redistribute the wealth. Some make it more fair for everyone. Some only help a select few. So you are right, the 2 videos show how clear our choices really are. It really does not get no easier on who people should vote for than this election. It really amazes me that there is actually some undecideds out there.
It's so simple if you look at it this way. One candidate dismissed half the population. One thinks that we need to make things fair for everyone, not just the people that vote for him. One is looking out for the people who do not needing looking out for and could care less about the people that do need looking out for. So if you are for rich getting richer and poor getting poorer then vote for Romney. If you think that things need to be more fair for everyone then vote for Obama.
It's very rare that we get a politicians true motives, so it really should be an easy decision as far as that goes.

I get what the articles is saying Bob. It is also known when you have to much power and wealth at the top of any civilization compared to the rest of the people with in that civilization. Eventually that civilization will come crumbling down. This has happened many times through out history.
That is why you need balanced power and a balanced civilization where everyone has many opportunities to succeed. I am not saying that we take from the most successful people and give their success to the least successful people. I am saying make it so the least successful has opportunities to where they can be as successful as anyone else. As with anything in life it may take certain people a lot longer to become successful but they will eventually get there.
What we have now is a lack of opportunities and I believe that is because we look at the overall economy the wrong way. We know we have many problems on this planet from droughts to climate change to lack of clean energy and soon it looks like a shortage in food due to droughts and lack of oil. The one thing we have is a lot is plenty of man power.
Why can't we just take all these people and start placing them in training programs to help figure out some of these problems? Then know one could argue we are wasting money because its creating jobs and fixing the Earth at the same time. The reason this never happens is because the people at the top refuse to make any kind of investment that is not good for now. Plus many other things like politicians getting elected and we have to pay our own people more than many other countries.
That's what happens when you sell the everyone can be rich ideas. They want the most expensive things and that is also why many people feel so entitled. Also it creates a level of corruption because when things don't work out the way people say they do. Then they start to cheat to get it. So there is really only one solution, make things fair for everyone or we continue to live with all this corruption and violence. Eventually the bottom will fall out and we will have to start over until we do get it right. Like I said its happened many times before through history.

I think it is pretty obvious that the hard core Obama supporters do so because they believe as he does that the wealth should be redistributed. That is why the 'redistribution' video was dug up, to show the stark difference between a candidate who wants to actually put people back to work and a incumbant who has incereased welfare roles greatly and brags about it no less.
Romney was correct, Obama has a core support of people who buy into the theory that it is govenment who must take care of citizens.
Romeny believes that he can reach the fences sitters by showing he wants to improve the economy, not the welfare state of vicitmization that Obama is pushing.
It is NOT Romney who believes the American people are victims, it is Obama.

Debra, obviously all I know about you is what you've let us all know here on myLot, so I sure don't want to seem presumptuous. However, I feel compelled to say you surely MUST realize Mitt Romney has no interest in being "your" President, no interest whatsoever in what the quality of your life or that of your loved ones' is. I'm not saying we shouldn't ALL take responsibility for ourselves; I've done just that all my life. I just quite frankly resent the he11 out of someone wanting to be President of the United States telling his rich cronies how he really doesn't feel it's his job to worry about nearly half of the population of the country he wants to lead.

Regarding Obama's video, I wish they would have aired a more recent one of him talking about redistribution, there is one from 2008. But they also released it like it was news. It is not. I know I have been aware of Obama's view on this issue since before the last election. Romney's campaign should really start using real issues. Which leads to Romney's video. The press is trying to make such a big deal out of a statement that is pretty right on point. People that believe it is government's responsibility to take care of you, will not like the self made candidate. The candidate that believes that anybody can make it. The candidate that wants to get government out of your way so that you can create a business and in effect create jobs. Not when you can just steal from the successful and give to the lazy!

In some focus groups Gov. Romney's comments played very well. I think among even the 47% there are many people who would not mind paying taxes if they could get a better job. I wish that Gov Romney would speak out more and show us the real differences between himself and President Obama and his idea for the country.
