Is playing tennis tiring and difficult?

My uncle used to play tennis when I was young. Whenever I visited their house together with my grandmother, he gave me some of his tennis balls. I guess it's fun to play. However, if I'm watching some people playing the sport, it looks tiring and difficult for me. What do you say fellow mylotters? Feel free to share your thoughts. Happy mylotting.

i don't know i never considered tennis a so hard sports as others but you cna consider that when you decide to practice sports generally the physical effort is enabled in almost all sports...may be excluding some as gold or curling for example...

Yes, you're right. If we really want to engage ourselves in sports, we can't avoid getting tired. Sports are physical activities. So we have to do our best and exert effort when we play sports. Thanks for posting and happy mylotting. I guess you do play tennis. Right?

Tennis is an amazing game, it looks tiring because it is :p But overtime one gains enough fitness to play at that level. But if you play for fun it isnt tiring at all as you are not moving that much. If you want to play seriously though then you need to train really hard, which includes running, sprints, and gym.

Thanks aki123. Welcome to myLot. You are right. Tennis is tiring because you have to move a lot in order to burn calories, right? If I will play tennis, I have so much to do. I need to be physically fit first. Thanks for posting and happy mylotting.

I used to love to play back when I lived somewhere where I could easily find people to play with. I did most of my playing when I was in graduate school on weekends since I was too busy in the lab on weekdays. I would go out on a Saturday say and hit the wall until someone else who looked to be equal or better than me started hitting nearby and I would ask them to play. I would spend all day playing or hitting the wall. This was in the hot Texas Summer with temperatures in the high 90s F. and high humidity but it was great. I am completely self taught. I wish there were more convenient courts where I live now and that I could more easily find people to play with. I haven't play in well over ten years and I really miss it.

Oh, you haven't played tennis for more than a decade. I wish there will be a good court and tennis players in your neighborhood so that you can play tennis again. Thanks for posting and happy mylotting.

Trust me when you have been playing for years it's actually not as tiring as ou'd think. When I used to play on Saturays I'd play singles, first to 8 sets and 2 games of doubles first to 6 sets. Then in the afternoon I'd play another 3 sets of doubles first to 6. It really was nothing to me. Now that I haven't played for about 10 years even having a hit for half an hour puffs me out!

Wow, I guess you were physically fit that time. When we get older, our performance is a bit affected. We easily get tired. I hate aging. LOL. Thanks for posting and happy mylotting.

Two weeks ago, I started to watch about U.S. Open Tennis player Murray vs Djovokic, both players were hot facing challenge. Unfortunately Djokovic lost, but still they are both good players anyway. Murray got champion luckily. Tsogonas won too from last night. My young brother is a amateur tennis and he went to U.S.Open tournament but he is VIP and himself a photographer. However, I am not tennis freak, I love to watch NCAA Football and Basketball. Well' I think Tennis is too tough and difficult this game.

Oh, so you are not in to tennis. You prefer football and basketball. I agree with you that tennis is a difficult game to play. We need to be alert and energetic. Thanks for posting and happy mylotting.

I got your point. I guess tennis is not a good game for me. I'm not that physically fit and I can't run fast. LOL. I just prefer badminton. Thanks for posting and happy mylotting.

i never considered tennis a so dificult or hard sport to practice but you must consider that every sport in general need a deep physical effort and from this point of iew i think tennis is medium so not so hard but not so soft...may be if you practice golf or even curling it would be really soft as sport!!

When it comes to playing it, it really gets easier to do. You should have a coach to start it. He will teach you how to start it like holding a racket and swing it the right way.

I guess when we really like the sport, we don't care how tired we are. We always look forward to play it again. In addition, it's one form of exercising. I'll just prefer playing badminton. LOL. Thanks for posting and happy mylotting.
