There has always been riots when houses are demolished..even deaths sometimes. i can't say much since i don't know the entire story, only what i see in the news. i thin both parties are at fault.. the demolition team and the residents, since they do not legally own the place so sooner or later they will be thrown out, but police or whoever is the demolition team should not be so harsh.. but it was the illegal settlers who drew the first stone.
I can't really blame them since they have nowhere else to go, and it's hard to see your house destroyed.. I wonder who is truly at fault.

hello lady,
these kind of news seems to be there more often. i dont own lands but my answer to your question - who is to blame? the law is very clear, one has no right to invade a private land. when one knows that it is a titled land, he already know that he does not have any right to own it or stay there unless with the consent of the owner. the owner may have tolerated their stay there but that doesnt mean that he has relinquish his ownership on the property and that anybody can own it.. unless of course if there is a written agreement or lease, etc.
that phrase "they have no where else to go" i would say is so unfair to the landowners. these people came there from somewhere hence they go back to where they came from. or the government can give them relocation sites. but do you think this is a good example? am sorry to say that it is not. squatting, more vernacularly known is never correct.

What a way life is! Where everything involves money! How much nicer if we had also a barter system where a person could trade something they make, or a skill or talent they have, even cleaning! I would love to be able to do some cleaning to pay for some things! And if you go through a city, there's empty buildings or tops of buildings and down below are homeless people huddled.. I know why cities can't make use of these empty living spaces, and get some sort of service they're now paying others to do, in return.. Perhaps it takes more people getting involved..

Yes, your right my friend. I think even animals will do the same thing, protect their shelters or their lives if they thought they are being threatened, what more to humans.
This scenario is very common especially in urban areas. Some of these informal settlers have connection or have padrinos working in the government. The fault is on the people themselves and the government. The property owners who let other people build their houses on their land and the government officials who have promised anything to these settlers when elected.

actually, these informal settlers were given at least a month's notice to leave the place. and what do they do? they stubbornly stay and fight off whoever evicts them. these people don't own the place, so why would they complain if they are evicted?

good for you you do not judge right away because you do not know the real story. But of course it's still the illegal settlers fault because they squatted first and not only that they also threw the first stone so no doubt it is the fault of the illegal settlers.

The illegal settlers, because in the very first place, they shouldn't be squatting in a property that belongs to someone else. They should be responsible enough to provide shelter for their family and to not blame the demolition team as they were only doing their job.

This is so difficult, friend. The problen of having a place to dwell is a difficult one everywhere in the world. There are many people that don“t have the means to rent a place. And as you say, sooner or later the police throws them out. I wish there were more social dwelings everywhere. I know it can be done.

I've seen the news this late night and yes, it's really sad this thing is happening around.
The illegal settlers are also human, although it is their fault in the first place for settling their illegally.
Even the smallest animal will fight for their rights when driven out of their homes/colony- what more us humans.
I just wish everything can be settled peacefully- but HOW?
