Was played awhile ago and my friend told me about the songs story. It was Eric Clapton's song. He wrote this after his son's death who fell from the window of a 53rd floor room when Eric's wife visited a friend and brought the kid. Said he came immediately to the accident but his son was already dead. The song was indeed emotional and sad. Total heartbreaking. Eric asked a friend to make the bridge for the song. The friend at first refused to do so, since it was a personal song.. But Eric insisted- so that's how he came up with the lyrics that shows advise & comfort,, "Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees, Time can break your heart, have you begging please".. But said after years of the incident, Eric decided to stop singing the song for he believe he's not feeling the pain anymore..At least he's moved on.. ouchie .

Thank you for sharing the story behind the song. I net a lot of people who are really touched by the song, maybe they knew the story already. Eric must have been so much in pain during those times but I'm sure he has recovered totally this time. I also like this song and I even recorded a simple cover for this. I recorded it from a site where everyone is free to sing any song. This site is like a karaoke, I don't know how to describe it. Haha Here is the link if you would like to listen and just be sure you will not laugh at it! Haha! http://www.risingstars.asia/ph/?site=player&karaokeFile=songs/79282/20121113_111153819&prod=Eric_Clapton_Tears_In_Heaven

Ulan: The song is really meaningful. Oh I forgot, the site is only available to some countries, mostly Asian countries. They are still expanding the site. Thank you for trying anyway. Meowmeow: When I did not know yet the story behind the song, I always thought that maybe it was for his girl. Thank you for the appreciataion, I hope that's real! Haha I'm dying to hear you sing! If you happen to join the site, please let me know so that I can add you up!

I like this song of Eric Clapton, very sad but meaningful. I never knew the story behind this song until I read your comment, such a tragic incident my heart beat so fast just by imagining what happened to his son. It will remain in my thoughts and will always be remembered whenever the music played. I tried to open your link but unfortunately doesn't work in my place right now, it says not available in my country. Miss the chance to listen to it :( maybe next time.

its really cute that he remembered his son that way. i guess he doesnt want to sing the song anymore not to remember what happened everyday of his life. im sure he misses his son so much but to sing that song reminds him of the terrible accident. so i understand that he doesnt want to play it anymore. its amazing how people remember people who were important to them through songs. even strangers can feel the pain in the words.

I never knew the story of the song. It is obviously a very emotional song and it sometimes makes me tear up also. I don't know if I would be able to write such a personal song and sing it in front of millions. I probably could not get one word out without sobbing!

We all need money and this is something he could share with the world. Perhaps it was therapeutic to him for sharing it.

Sure it is..by sharing the song he was able to share the agony. Finally he has moved on. Without knowing the history of it, I actually love the song since the day I heard it.. A quality music.. :)
