Filipinos are not used in getting their receipts...

I am a cashier and I am bothered why our clients would just leave the counter without getting their receipts. I don't think they are aware that they have to get the receipts whenever they give their payment. I have to keep on reminding them to wait for their receipts. Sometimes, I am thinking that maybe this is the reason why there is graft and corruption in our country...

Maybe not all, lol! Me and the rest of my family and some of my friends always look and wait for receipts. (I guess being an Accountant, I'm just used to it lol!). I always ask for it because I have a budget to work on and by the end of the day I want to file them and see if I am already spending way above it. Another thing is, if I have to return something that I bought, I can do so because I still have the receipt with me.
I guess most people think it as just another trash that's going to litter in their purses or pockets.

And that is how some scrupulous businessman are able to cheat the BIR of taxes. Some establishments issue out receipts only when the customer asks for it. So, without that receipt, there is no evidence of that sale ever happening. So, the businessman can report a low sales and thus be taxed lower. That is why the Bureau came of with the idea of raffling receipts (Premyo sa resibo). That way, customers will ask for receipts and the business would have no choice but to report that sale.

I am working at a government corporation and I am worried if people would not used in getting their receipts, government taxes would be cheated and graft & corruption would be encourage. Lesser taxes would mean lesser possibility for a salary increase too in our part. And more money would just dropped by the pockets of chosen few. I hope that more Filipinos would be conscious in getting their receipts.

I always took my receipt with me.
I don't leave it.
I know there are people who left their receipts especially in food chains, maybe because they don't need it.
But for important receipts I am sure people keep it for future references.

i too also noticed that. some people do not get or ask anymore for the receipt of what they have purchased. perhaps, they don't want to remember anymore how much money they have spent since the thing they have bought was too expensive.

Hello airasheila... yap, there are lot of people who seems not to need the receipts not knowing that they would need it sometime. What we are giving them are IDs which serves as gatepass in entering the zone area. After paying, they would go inside a room who would take their pictures and laminated or print the IDs. Then they will wait for their names to be called so they could get their IDs. What if their names would not be called? They have no proof that they paid the fee for the ID. I think it is the basic thing to do, to see to it that what you've paid would be given to you.

I don't get my receipt if I just buy small amount or just piece of something.
But in case of big amounts, I make sure that I get my receipt rechecked if my purchases are correct.

Hi r3j! That is one thing that I would do. I always get my receipt whenever I pay something. This is one way of monitoring my spending. I also need it whenever I am using my credit card.

Hello Aries. I always thought that it is necessary to get our receipts in any payments that we made. It is always needed in case of claims, repairs, returns and other concerns. We would be protected as buyers if we always get our receipts and kept it until we knew that we are satisfied.
