I am getting addicted to this TV series on YouTube. It’s called Restoration House and it focuses on renovating old houses into homes that families can live to. It just made me think of various ancestral houses we have in the Philippines and how much houses are not preserved at all. Of course, elite families get to keep and maintain their property which could be a blessing or a curse.
For aa modern Filipino, I would like to live in an old ancestral house. I think I will like the charm and the designs. Would you like to live in ancestral house, too?

I am your exact opposite my friend. If the ancestral house is really an antique one, with a lot of old furniture and the like, i would prefer to live in a modern one.
Most of the ancestral house that is see are dark, because they have brown furniture as well as dark surroundings. I prefer a house that has a comfy atmosphere wherein when you look around it seems so fresh and not have the feeling of being bottled in.

I don't blame you. There are many convenient things and comforting modern home.Plumbing is one great example. Of course, it's also a big hassle to repair things in an old house. Like what the program describes, it takes a lot of patience and money to pull it off. Also, you can't exactly redecorate in the way you wanted. You have to totally change some things and that comes with a big price tag.

That's true my friend. Restoring them would eat up a lot of your budget. Besides, usually antique things seems to be dark in color. Thus, if it is a house, the surroundings is gloomy and would give you the impression that it is spooky.

Hi,
Having not owned a house makes me wish for one even if it is a thousand years old. Anything will do as long as it keeps the sun and rain where they belong. Moreover, old houses has withstood the test of earthquakes and typhoons and can be relied upon in such times.
Do not mention the haunted ones, I don't believe in them though.

Ancestral homes are very nice . I am sad that the ancestral house of my mother was broken down as it was no longer habitable. It was a two story house made of wood at the second floor and cemented at the first floor. It was a very big house but no one among the siblings of my mother dared to restore it. Maybe due to financial reasons.

Well, It can be converted into a local museum or a good classic hotel. I also see that kind of houses in my city and province. Some are really in disarray and I can understand the sentiment of those who don't want to repair and build something new instead. But it might be fun to have a costume gala at that kind of houses.
