Here's what, I had long given up on our sports program. I had wished a long time ago that those in the Olympic Committee would have really given our youth a boost for international competitions. But nah, it remains a wish. But there is one competition I wait for every year, and that is the UAAP Cheerdancing Competition. The UST Salinggawi Dancers made a 5 peat record a few years back, but now, the UP Pep Squad had raised the level of competition to a whole new class, sealing the three peat victory just an hour ago. Congratulations, UP Pep Squad, that was an awesome routine you delivered. The theme "Freedom" was very relevant, 21 Sept being the anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law. Only UP, the university where the students are ever vigilant, could have thought of the importance of making the youth, especially the students, remember what happened in our history.

A well-deserved win for UP Pep Squad! No question about it. So excited and so happy for them. The ladies going bald... I mean... really. Must have been something. And the audience filled with UP supporters... awesome. Congratulations!

The shaving of the hair represents gender equality. The shaved hair were donated as wigs for cancer patients. Really a selfless thing to do. It really exemplify the icon of UP which is Oble. UP students really don't fill up other UAAP games that much, but when it comes to the cheer dance competition, the whole UP community is up in arms to give support. Oh my I missed those cheering and chanting days!

I saw UP's cheer dance last year. But failed to watch their performance this season. Last year's madonna-themed routine was really cool! I bet this year's freedom-theme was a lot better. Can't wait to see it over on youtube.

Three peat now. First, it was mohawk. Second it was blonde material girl. This time, it was the bald for freedom. (The hair was donated to the cancer patiends, the children who have no hair.)

Props to the UP PEP Squad! They made 8 happen. 831, 8 championships, 3 times in a row and 1 team/squad. The shaving of the hair is a greatly emphasize Oble as selfless and sacrificial. They shaved it to represent gender equality and donated the hair for cancer patients. Really proper for them to chant out proudly: "Matatapang, Matatalino, Walang Takot kahit kanino!". Missed chanting and cheering for the UP Pep Squad live. But still rooting out even just at home watching the television. The nailed it, hands down!

I was waiting for UST yesterday but unfortunately, they did not give their best. I like the style of FEU but I can say that UP did won the competition even at the last part someone fell. UP got all the awards in the cheering competition, they won the most stunner, best stunt competition, and the cheering competition as well. Three winning streaks for UP. If they continue this well, they will beat the streak of UST.

I am a Thomasian and I wanted the Salinggawi to regain their prowess in the cheerdance competition. But I guess these three years are the glory days of the U{ Pep Squad. I had seen them move, they even give glimpses of how good they are during the December Lantern parade, and wow, there's no denying that they are tops. Here's a downer, some teams hired pros, can you believe that?

Here's a trivia. The coach is Lalaine Pereina, and she dances and choreographs so well. And her routine does not just comply on the mandatory requirements, she does it all with the theme in mind. And the Freedom theme, that was in reference to the Martial Law era, when freedom was curtailed. The UP Pep Squad routine echoed the crying for freedom.

My daughter never misses this event too and we are happy that UP had made it again. Congratulations for your victory and also for the noble purpose behind the shaving of the hairs.

Tigers Just reprimanded them on fb, for being boastful in their pronouncements. Thomasians ought to be prudent. Prudence must be in our blood.
