I think it's always interesting to hear of the latest "trends" or way of life based on living in different parts of the world. Having said this, I'm curious to know these days what are some commonly used baby names in your country and where do you live? Here in Canada a few popular baby girl names include: Emma, Emily, Alexis. As for baby boys a few names include: Jacob, Jack and Cole.

I'm surprised to hear "Earl" as a popular name these days, I know a lot of the older generation have this name but I don't know of any babies by that name. This is why I find discussions like this so interesting, shows how things are so different based on where you live.

Those two names are common here in Canada with the older generation, I haven't heard of too many newborns named Anne but there are definately a lot of Michaels around.

I see. So you mean some people will name their babies the same name that would be appropriate for a pet? Here in Canada I've noticed a lot of people name their pets with names that you would see humans with such as: Tony or Sam.

Hi jshean... I live in india.here we mostly name our babies after the name of god, godess we worship, and also elegant names.we believe in keeping the name that have some meaning, indeed a good meaning.like i named my daughter "vasundhara".this means earth which gives us food to eat, place to live.these days people are keeping names after following western trend.but still many people follow our indian culture.

It's nice that in your culture you choose names with such great meaning. Here in Canada I don't think people generally look into the meaning of the name, they more so just choose a name that they like the sound of or some will look at the baby name popularity and choose based on that also.
