I was just at pogo, my internet play games sight and it was saying play 10 games of big city adventure and get number 10 free well since you have to buy gems to buy the games, then how free is the 10th one this is so much like whats happening every where. you buy to get free. like the grocery store we went to in florida, my daughter loved the buy one get one free offers. i told her its just a con as usually the one is as much as 2 should normally be. do you know of any of these get free deals? dont you agree most is just a con to get you to buy more?

oh no,, yeah its not indeed a free stuff. it usually is just like that - a promo and they are selling it not as the prevailing market rate, but selling it as stock price, perhaps. but me, i do not usually believe in such as i always think there's a catch, like its old stock, and they will release new one... and so on...

thats what i figure. its stuff they have to move fast in order to get new stuff. so they get what they can out of it. while everyone is still interested and hasnt seen the new version.

If i discovered that they are selling their old stock, i will make sure to check out their expiration date before buying them. One of my friends ever loss some money due to buying some old and expired dates canned food.

no not necessarily, there are laws about that, you can't sell over the actual price to get on free, in most cities, but you buy one at regular price and you get one free, so say something is 2.00 regular instead of getting one for 2.00 you get 2.00 and so you say a dollar.

there are and big companies in the states have been taken to court over it as well. Walmart is one example.

I wouldn't consider it a con, but I do get a kick out of just the same! LOL My favorite has to be a time my husband and I went to a department store during Easter one year. They had some promotional thing going on. One of the employees there offered us an egg (one of those plastic ones that open up). When my husband and I opened it, we found out it was for a free picture at their studio (I don't remember the size, I think it was a 10 x 16, or something like that). Anyway, there was a sitting fee of $10, so it wasn't really free. However, my husband and I still got it done. Why? Well, it certainly wasn't because it was "free", that's for sure! LOL As I was pregnant with our oldest I figured it was our only opportunity to get our picture taken by a "professional photographer". And although my husband wasn't too crazy about they're little ploy, he still agreed to it as he wanted to make me happy. What's even funnier, is the day we got our pictures taken. The photographer there tried to sell us more pictures than just one we had "won". Boy was she peeved when we told her we didn't want any more pictures...just the free one! And here she had gone through taking a bunch of pictures of us! That's what she got for not asking us before going picture happy on us. We might have spent $10 that day for the sitting fee, but it was worth it in the end just to see the look on that woman's face! Now that is what I call priceless! Happy mylotting!

back when we lived in a big city in ohio and my kids were little, they had door to door salemen come and do that, except you really did get one free. its just that he would come in, take pics of the kids and 2 weels later come to offer you a package deal. a couple times they were lucky and the pics were so good, and i had a few bucks and would buy a few more besides the free. there was no sitting fee or anything. you really could get 1 absolutely free those were the days. 60's and early 70's.

Bunny, you are right that mostly promo things like buy 1 free 1, are not really cheap. But, things that are needed to buy in bulk usually would be cheaper in cost. That's why, whenever i came across things that are in promo, i would firstly calculate the cost. If it is worth it and really very cheap, then only i would buy it. If not, i prefer not to buy in bulk. I don't want to see my money being tied to things that are not worth the price.

In many situations I do think that these free deals really are just something that is out there to get a person to spend more money than they had intended to sell. However, I don't think that this is something that is always the case. For example, at the grocery store where I do most of my shopping, they do run a lot of buy one get one sales. However, when they are running these sales, they will actually sell a single item for half of the usual price of that single item, so you are not forced to buy more than you were planning on buying.

you are right. there are exceptions. i have seen my store also have decent sales plus gotten coupons now and then for free loaf of bread or a milk, etc.

Hi friend, good to hear about this new offer, there is nothing wrong in grabbing this kind of offers and we will get benefits with them. I too like this kind of offers and always grab them

You are right in many cases. I never buy BOGO if they've raised the price too much. And I have to need the item, too. I would much rather they just cut the price in half. A lot of times I don't need two but buy the second anyway if the price is right. I keep track of prices in my stores on the things I need and use. Since I started doing that I save a lot of money by not getting fooled by phony deals.

It would be nice if things were free but in most cases they are NOT free. Yes, it is a con to get us to buy into their fantasy

I do agree. There are a lot of times I think the store marks one up so that they make you think you are getting one free but not. I know that even when we have tax free weekend here that the stores mark the prices up on some products too make a little extra. They know people are going to do a lot of shopping that weekend.
