My mom is not happy because her bank sent a letter saying they will send bank statements every three months. I have my bank statements every month. I told her she could get a mini print all for from a bank machines or ask in the bank for a printed statement. She didn't like that idea so I said she could change her bank to a different one. She says she has other accounts there and the interest is extra money for her. I know it could take up to six weeks to change banks and would be quite bothersome.
Do you have all bank accounts at the same bank or building society?
How often do you get a bank statement?

I have 3 banks, but one has the majority of my accounts as I have a lot of their products like mortgate, loans, credit card, etc. I've gone from receiving printed statements to just seeing them online. I think it's better for me this way as I usually just loose statements at home, or the office anyway. I also like that they catalog it and I could print out a pdf copy anytime.

Maybe she can enroll in the bank's online banking? My bank offers this feature and even allows limitations on what can be transacted online; like to avoid fraud they can set your account for viewing and printing statements only.
As for actual banking, I do not keep all our savings in one bank. It is good to always have something to compare to. Like one time, we are doing some inter bank fund transfers and we are charged 2 dollars higher in one bank. When we pointed out that our other bank is willing to do the same transaction for us for less, they offerred to waive some extra charges.

I do the same as raine38. I always want to have something to compare to. maybe you'd keep one bank for savings or money for the rainy day, and another for expenses so you can discipline yourself and not keep all eggs in one basket.
as for having so many bank accounts in different banks, it is not that advisable. two or three banks. okay.

It was down to my partner that I had different accounts with different banks, because there would be takeover bids and you would get extra shares or money if a bank was taken over by another, my partner was very shrewd and had a business head so that is what I did, the only trouble being is because we moved so often, it meant having to inform all my banks of a change of address which was quite tiresome given there is so much to do when you do move. Now because of the recession I have closed a lot of my accounts and have needed the money for everyday living. So now I only have a couple of accounts at a couple of banks, the upside is that its more easier to manage my money than have it all spread about everywhere!

I have accounts at different banks -- I suppose the main reason is I don't want all my money tied up with one institution. It's always good to have somewhere to "run to" if necessary...with banks, you never know what sort of fees they'll think up next. I would never want to feel chained to a bank -- that's how they take advantage of you! I actually don't get any paper bank statements at the moment, just monthly e-statements. (And of course I can check the running balance in my account any time I want by logging in to my banks' sites.) Paper statements are good for record-keeping purposes and they reduce your dependence on the Internet so I understand your mom's perspective. Hopefully she'll find the right bank for her!

No, actually I have several bank account from different banks. I won't keep everything in a same bank, that is not my idea to diversified my money. I regularly got my statement, a printed statement mail to my house every month. And I could also review my statement through online too. So, maybe if you can teach your mom to use computer, she can see her statement online too. That will be one convenient thing for her to do.

I only have one bank account, but would want them at the same bank, if I had more. It would just be more convenient.

Do they have online banking? That will be an easy way to check account balances anytime you want to.
My bank send me statements every 3 months too and I don't mind it as I can check online whenever I want to.
I hve also switched to e-statements and it is sent my email to me.

I am not surprised as most banks are going paperless. My bank allows for viewing accounts online and has totally done away with monthly and/or quarterly statements. I think this is the wave of the future and most banks will go this way in the near future.
I use the credit union on campus of where I work. It's convenient and also has better interest rates for loans than the banks in town. They also offer friendly service and know me when I walk in the door.
I hope your mother finds another bank that she will be happy with. Do you have any credit unions in the area to check out? That would be a good option for her or at least to compare to local banks.

I'm somewhat like your mom who keeps all accounts in one bank and I have been with that bank ever since I lived here... I did close an account with them before, but I opened a new one again at the same bank when I found out about their new product which has better offers than the one I've had before. As for the statements, I can choose the frequency as well as an option if I want them paperless or not.
