Here in the united states we have a duty to serve on a jury. Anyone between 21 and 70 must serve. I haven't had to serve at age 27 because I have been the primary caregiver of a child since I was 18. What is it like? What am I missing? Has anyone gone through the whole process? I am really interested in knowing. Please anyone with an experience share. I feel like I am missing on a huge life experience as an American. Thank you for responding in advance.

Sound interesting and I also learn something , I am not from America but I watch America news and tv shows everyday . I was not aware that almost everyone had to do jury work once . Its neat you dont have to do it but you seems real interested .
I would not want to be on a jury lol especially for a murder case or something too horrible .

Actually we have to do it once every couple of years. Not just once! If you cant speak English well or are mentally ill are other reasons for not having to do jury duty in America.
I believe I wouldn't want to see the horrible things in a murder case either. I find myself a fair person and could be fair but to have to endure it seems hard.I can only imagine until my children are grown.

Wow thats pretty neat that because you are the primary care giver that you dont have to be on a jury. I hope that would work for me as well I dont want to have to ever go do jury duty. I am easily swayed with my opinions and I dont think I could make a decision easily if I was on a jury. I would be afraid of messing things up. My husband had to serve jury duty once for two days he got paid like $12 I think. It was horrible. He had to drive a half hour one way to get there and then have no pay for those two days. The $12 didnt even cover the cost of gas. He enjoyed doing jury duty until he got only $12 then wasent thrilled lol. It was a good experience for him though.

Icannot believe they would even send a check for that! If he spent two days there that is less then minimum wage. I guess since he had a job already do they calculate pay differently if you didn't have a job. I would go when they call but I must postpone it since I have young children. Thank you for sharing your experience or your husbands better said, Happy myLotting!

Yes he was there all day for two days and only got the $12. I guess if you are employed some places the employer has to pay you even though you arent there from what I've heard but my husband worked for his father as a sub contractor so if he didnt work he didnt get money so he lost out on about $100 those two days. When he was supporting myself and my two children that wasnt good at all but oh well nothing we could do about it.
