Free online college credit?

So I've recently heard of free online college courses you can take, for real college credits. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about that? Do you really get credit? What online sites/courses are legit? And do these credits transfer? I am currently a full time student, but there is more than one degree I would like to get, and if free online college courses that give college credit, that can transfer to the college I am attending, could help me achieve my degrees any sooner than I otherwise would be achieving them, I would gladly hop on that opportunity in a heartbeat!
