Some of you may remember when I was asking for prayers a month or\ so ago because my brother was having surgery for removal of cancer from his bladder...Well during that operation it was detected a lump in his prostate, which after testing came back cancer... He has elected to do the treatment with what they call the "Radiation Seed"..One of my girlfriends hubby had it 3 years ago and has had problems every since and is still having problem..the difference is the age between him and my brother, mu brother is younger... But once again I am reaching out for your prayers for my brother Ray Charles... Thanks so very much!!!!!

The radiation seeding works very well, at least for some people. It is definitely a decision that needs to be made after talking with a doctor about the pros and cons of all treatment possibilities, though. I read in your response to Owl that your brother has decided on radiation and then seeding. I hope that he does well with the treatments, and he is healthy very soon. I know someone that is a prostate cancer survivor, and he has been free of cancer ... well, at least prostate cancer ... for twelve years now. He chose to have the radiation seeding, and it worked well for him. There are some side-effects, but the side-effects that he is experiencing are also the same side-effects that are caused by age, so they are not necessarily due to the seeding but the existing conditions might have been exacerbated by the seeding. The biggest problem when he was seeded was that he needed to stay away from young children and pregnant females, although any female in her "child-bearing years" was advised not to get too close for an extended amount of time. When holding his grandchildren, he had to wear one of those lead skirts to protect the children from being exposed to the radiation.

Sending prayers to your brother, I hope it all works out. I couldnt imagine going through something like that. I would do a lot of research before trying something, I mean I know Ive listen to doctors and its gotten me no where. I mean right now Im fighting with doctors over medication. I wasnt aware and wasnt told antyhing until after I started them. I have never had heard about the radiation seed, I've only knew one friends dad who had cancer and he had surgery was fine.
