Is the drinking water where you live clean?

Here in the United States of America we have different sources of water. I live in New York City and we gave a public water system. I have gone to the country around the city where their source if water is well water. I feel it tastes different. I do drink the tap water here in the city and I believe I have been used to it over the years. I know it has added fluoride so that is why I do drink it. I really don't know what else is added but I would really like to know. After watching movies like "Erin I do have some anxieties and drink more bottle water. Ever since watching the movie it has been years and I haven't had had anxieties. But when I see disaster or terrorist type movies where the water supply is tainted or when there has been a bad storm or anything announced in the news of the water being polluted I get my anxieties again and drink bottle then boil water too. I even get the Heebeejeebees when I bathe especially my small children. Anyone else feels like this it has had actual experience with a polluted water supply?

Ironically a friend of mine did a water test for a presentation for her father on the water at our alma mater (we met in college). She found some not so good stuff from one of the water fountains and she was like "a ha". I try not to think about it too much unless the water looks a horrible color or it tastes really bad.

Funny how you mention that. I was thinking about having my daughter do a test of water for her science project this year. I hope she gets it all together and wants to do it with me. I find it a very interesting subject. I do wonder what is floating around there. thank you for sharing.

I would never, ever drink tap water where I live. Maybe if it were boiled for a while, yes, but not direct from the tap. Unfortunately for poorer countries, clean tap water is something of a dream. And the sad thing is that since people can't always afford to buy filtered or distilled water, so many water-bourne illnesses are prevalent.

Wow it is good to hear from you. I cannot believe that in this day and age we still have such an issue. Water should be something of a priority to our governments as it is what sustains us. We use it for everything. I know I have had to boil water or preferably buy bottled as I have been to poorer places and itis hard to feel safe in the water supply. thank you for sharing.

Well that's a tough debate. We discovered the other year that our house is built on a coal landfill. The former dumper is having our water tested once a year. If it comes back bad they pay for water delivery and a filtered water system. However, ours has not come back bad and our well is more shallow than the other neighbors who have had problems. So we keep our fingers crossed that we will not ever come back contaminated.

The water which we have from earth is not very pure. The water we get from the earth has impurities but not a lot. the water which we take or get from the earth is dissolved with particles which lies in the soil
.
I am quite happy to tell you that I have a good water facility in my house which is quite fit for drinking. I jut used to drink them without boiling but still my body do not show any problems

I can consider our drinking water here clean for so far, there are no issues and victims of any poisoning in terms of water.

The water in our country is good also, there are frequent cut off water time, because the watermen want to clean up the water tank, so its good to have clean water, I usually boil the water because last time I got sick when the bacteria went inside my throat, I still think boil water is the best.

I am very lucky in the place that I live because we have always been able to get clean drinking water. If anything, our water is too clean because we can sometimes taste the stuff that they put in it to clean it with. But I know that we are very lucky in comparison to other countries in the world who could be killed if they drink the only water that is available to them. Those films are scary, but you have to remember that the chances of such a thing happening are very slim, and there are lots of measures in place to try to prevent such things from happening.

In my country tap water is clean in most cities and we can drink it. They use the same water for the kitchen, bathroom and public places I think. Specifically in my city, the water has passed all the tests but I avoid drinking it because there is a factory nearby that's polluting the atmosphere so I am guessing that the soil must be polluted as well. Apart from that, the water here is very hard and contains a lot of salts. I grew up here and I didn't have any pronlems with it, but now that I've lived in other cities for many years I don't like this water and I prefer drinking bottled water every day.

I wouldn't drink tap water and I don't trust the government to do what's right for the people. They put potassium bromate in bread and that is considered a poisonous substance. It's banned in most countries - even China. Fluoride is very controversial but I would rather be safe than sorry. I'm 64 and don't need to take chances with my health. Here is a site you may - or may not - want to visit. www.fluoridealert.org/aticle/50-reasons/ Most of the things that are put in our food and water supply don't show any bad effects until you're older. Then the doctors always say "Well, you know, at your age..." My grandmother lived to be 98 and didn't have any of the ailments that plague people my age now. She didn't need all kinds of medications. Because for most of her life she ate natural foods and drank real water. But, this is just my opinion. Sorry if I sound like a nut, one of my nieces tells me I read too much.
