A flight attendant was accused of stealing an iPad

United States
September 25, 2012 8:57pm CST
A passenger was left an iPad on the plane, and another passenger pick it up, and take it to one of the flight attendant on the plane, and told her to return it to its rightful owner. This flight attendant probably forgot to do so, and she simply keep the iPad for her own. The passenger who lost his iPad, the rightful owner used a tracking apps, "find my iPad" app to track down the location of his iPad, and he also bring the police, found his iPad in this flight attendant's house. No matter how this flight attendant attempt to excuse her way out, she already used that iPad store her husband and her pictures in it. So, please be honest, and do the right thing.

Well I believe that she did not forget but kept it intentionally. How can she forget to give it to the higher authorities. I bet she knows what an ipad is because she is well educated. I can believe that a dumb person might not know but not this flight attendant. I am glad the owner found it and it is good to have tracker for these type of gadgets because they are very expensive and can be stolen or lost. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

Awww, no! If she really have good intentions for the device, like if she honestly just forgot about it, she wouldn't use it for her own pleasure. Even her personal pictures were there, so she really have no excuse. It's just so sad, that for a mere gadget she lost her credibility and good name.

Whether the flight attendant forgot to give it to the owner or not, she must have noticed at some point that she still had the device in her possession. It is very easy in the modern world to be able to track who owns things like this, and it would have probably taken just a few minutes to be able to do so. She deserves whatever punishment she gets, because she clearly took this device with the intention of making it her own and never even making any attempt to send it back to the person it belonged to, who might be missing it very much.

hi, that is very embarrass, the flight attendant couldn't excuse because they found out that the iPad was used, so the conclusion is the flight attendant kept it intentionally because if not she should surrender that in the board and jot to her hands.

The flight attendant should really give the iPad to her superior so thing scenario didn't happened.Quite shameful cause her excuse is quite not true.I she just forgot it, she better not use it and just keep it. People should really be honest and always do the right thing to avoid shameful things that might happen in the end.

Maybe the flight attendant did not find the owner and so she decided to just keep it as her own. If she really has the intention of not keeping it, then she should just give it to the company for the keeping, if ever the real owner would return, they would just give it to him. I am sad for the flight attendant, she should have done the right thing but instead chose the wrong one.

That's too bad. Now she is also in danger of losing her job if the victim will make a report to the airline company. How can she do this? This should serve as a moral lesson to everyone. Now her name is tarnished.

Well, obviously, the flight attendant did not have the intention of returning the iPad to rightful owner coz if she did, she wouldn't have taken it home with her. Isn't it SOP to turn over lost items to the management?

i would have believed that she just forgot to return the ipad but the fact that she used it to store pictures of her and her husband, I really doubt if she wanted to return it. shame on her for being a thief and for being innocent to tracking numbers on these devices

OMG, thats terrible but I am sure it happens more time than we know...I bet she was totally surprised when that knock came to her door.. What a wrong move on her part and she should have been arrested..because if she had already added her own personal information in it, she had all intentions to keep it... She a thief!!!!!

Oh,what a shame! What's the airline company? She should have returned the Ipad to its owner. I guess the passenger ,who saw the iPad,thought that it is wiser to give the gadget to the flight attendant thinking that it would land to its owner. The flight attendant might lose her job.

The airline industry is a customer-driven business. It owes its existence through trust and confidence among the airline personnel and their clients -- the customers, the riding public. Having established that as a norm, travelers find comfort and safety when they travel, that they are in good hands, the the airline industry will take good care of them and protect them from any perceived harm. Having said that the airline personnel are imbued with the responsibility to guard the clients' personal items. Taking other people's Ipad home is a no no in this business. The act of the flight attendant violated the airline company's contract with its passengers. The best that the personnel should have done is surrender/deposit the machine to the airline office's lost and found section. By bringing the Ipad to his/her home shows that there was an intention to steal. Luckily for the owner, the tracer apps serves well. What if the owner is not computer savvy? The personnel could have escaped detection. Maybe, for the airline attendant, more personal items are waiting for him/her. The flight attendant deserves the highest penalty. In this business, credibility counts.

I don't see how someone could claim that they'd managed to "Forget" they had been given a lost iPad for safekeeping and return to it's owner..and then using the thing to take photos of themselves blows any defence out of the water.. It's useful to have security measures like this built in to such gadgets to assist in their recovery. I was reading another article about a similar situation..the owner was able to lead police to the Guys House where the iPad was stashed, and then activate an alarm that sounded from it in the Garage..It was found along with a bunch of other stolen Merchandise!

Because of this flight attendant using the phone she found and not returning it that can make the airplane business she works for look bad. I think she should be fired because it is obvious she is not trust worthy. I am so glad the owner was able to track down his phone what an aesome thing for him. ipads are very expensive.

I believe the flight attendant is guilty and saying that she forgot to turn the iPad to her office when she landed is just lame. Besides, she had used the iPad for as if it was her own is another point to prove that she is being dishonest.

I think thieves have yet to get the memo about stolen electronics. Most of them now have tracking ability in them. This flight attendant will probably find herself out of a job?

Well I feel sorry for the flight attendant being accused of stealing a gadget that costs around 300-400 bucks. They should put hidden security cameras next time for them to easily identify who stole a certain stuff owned by their passengers.
