A flight attendant attempt to bring a hand gun onboard

Another weird news that I couldn't figure out what are those people thinking. A flight attendant attempted to board on a plane with a hand gun on her purse. When she get through the security, the X - ray instantly scan a hand gun, and she was escort to the security room for questioning. She obviously possess a .38 Wesson, whatever they called it. Why she need a hand gun for on a plane at the first place, and she should know better, they won't allow her any chance to bring any weapons onboard. Sometimes, I just don't understand what get into those people's mind.
