I hope. It has been 2 months since I made the decision, finally, to quit the habit of almost 36 years. I feel pretty good and haven't really had too many cravings. The biggest thing now is mental. I'll think I want a cigarette when I'm having a bad day or feel stressed, but when I ask myself what it would do to aid my situation I realize not a darn thing. So it is getting easier. The number one factor to succeeding in this battle is the true desire to stop, as with any addiction. A minor health scare help me to realize how important my children and grandchildren are to me and how I would really like to be around awhile longer. I tried to picture myself telling my family that I was going to die and it was tough. So I'm hoping it is not too late for my health. I realize that my time could come anytime, but that is at least one thing I can do to help. Please share whether you have quit, tried to quit, or maybe know someone who has quit such a long habit. Who knows, maybe if someone thinking about quitting will read this discussion and find the inspiration they need. Thank you for reading and have a pleasant day.

Good for you, and I hope you keep up with it so you will finally be able to kick it off for good. How I wish my dad have your determination and drive. He's been trying to quit smoking but I know that he cheats. No amount of begging, crying, scaring or even rewarding can really make him to stop. Oh he will stop for a couple of weeks, months even and then he's back to it.

addiction is a terrible beast, raine. when you try to stop, it lets you think you have control so you think you can moderate your behavior. then it takes over once you give in to it. you have to make the beast go away first. thank you for your comment
