I've experienced this several times since college days. I haven't gotten eight hours sleep for months but this afternoon, I think, I was able to sleep but I had sleep paralysis attack. Have you ever experienced this? I was very conscious of my surroundings a while ago but I couldn't move my muscles and I also couldn't open my eyes. It was pretty scary. Every time it happens to me I feel like struggling for my life. Prayer helps me a lot,I call on Jesus to get me out of sleep paralysis, I try to relax. I usually bite my tongue or move my foot until I get conscious.

Yes t happened to me specially when I can't sleep and I push
my self into sleep, and also when I'm feeling starve.
I can't move but I know that I moved my feet
but I can't get up. Only my mind is conscious that I time I thought
I was gonna give up, until I think of something to inhale so hard
and I made it. That's why every time It happens to me I just inhale
so hard.

No I don't! and I don't think there is also a right medication for this.
I just try to learned from the mistake that I don't push my self to sleep
or I don't sleep with empty stomach that's what I think the real reason
for having this before sleeping that's why I avoid it. Maybe for you try
to configure the caused of why this is happening to you.

I pushed myself to sleep as well this afternoon because I felt I needed to sleep. Do you take any medication for this?

I have heard of this from friends who have first-hand experiences, and you're right, it is very scary. It is something that I haven't experienced, nor will I ever want to experience. Just hearing them talk of their experiences already scares me enough that I can't even go to sleep without any lights on. Usually, they experienced this after they had a very huge meal and they decided to sleep immediately right after, or after they have been up for long hours with minimal sleep, or from doing something really stressful. In your case, what do you think brings it on?

I think lack of sleep. I have been dealing with sleeping disorder for a long time. I haven't had enough sleep for months and I have been very busy and tired. This afternoon, I think I had fallen asleep but I experienced sleep paralysis two times. I could hear my niece talking but I couldn't move I started biting my tongue and then I struggled to move my foot. I was able to wake up. I tried to sleep some more then I got conscious again but I couldn't open my eyes.

Yes, I've experienced this a number of times and this usually happens to me during an afternoon nap. I would often have very interesting dreams during sleep paralysis and they are usually more vivid than the nocturnal dreams I would have. It is indeed scary but I've learned from writing down my dreams and analyzing them that I have full control over the dream and I could continue with the dream or wake up from it.

Hello Jollie! Like you, I usually experience this during afternoon naps, especially when I force myself to sleep. I don't jot down my dreams but my sleep paralysis usually occurs between having dreams and having conscious mind in surroundings.

This is the first time I hear about this condition, and I thjink that you must see what a doctor has to say. Or have you already done that? What can you do about it? I am so sorry! What you tell us is pretty scary to me

Yes I have. The doctors just advice me to get enough rest and avoid stress if possible.

That's a pretty scary experience, indeed. And I have had my share of such experiences. People say you should move your toes to wake you up. I do that, but it does not work. What works is when I move my hand. But, I know I am conscious, so like you, I pray. And it helps, really.

Yes indeed, prayer really helps for me when I cannot move my toes. My mom also told me to move my toes whenever I experience this sometimes it works right away but there were times that I really struggled but when I uttered a prayer it worked.

I haven't experienced sleep paralysis since but i have a lot of friends and people I know who experience this a lot of times.. Most of them are already immune to it but still feels scared when they encounter it. I even feel scared even if I haven't experience sleep paralysis. Hoo~ it is really scary just thinking of it o

I had never heard of sleep paralysis before but reading the above I have experienced it. When it happens to me I just can't open my eyes and I am lying there trying to wake up without success. I suppose it is a bit scarey and now I have read that it is caused by stress I shall check it out next time it happens. I do think that it might be caused by tiredness though.

Belle, pity to hear you experienced this type of scary attack. I ever heard one of my mother's friend ever had this type of attack. Try not to let this type of attack happen to you too frequently. Try to plan well your daily lifestyle, have enough rest and exercise as well. Most important, don't overstress yourself. Hope you won't experience this scary attack anymore.

That is pretty scary. How often does this happen to you? Have you tried consulting a doctor about it? This isn't normal, and it would be much better if you ask for any medical advice regarding this. Am not suggesting that you might be sick, but it is better than we know what cause this to happen to you and what should you do to prevent from having one again. Keep safe!

It has also happened to me twice. I thought I'm awake because I'm already seeing ht room, but I'm so surprised that I remember I'm still asleep so I had to raise my legs or kicked so hard so I will wake up. I felt that someone shook me, I thought I saw hands shaking me, when I woke up I'm alone in the room. That was really scary. I don't want it to happen to me ever again.

Sleep paralysis is a very scary thing. I used to get sleep paralysis a lot, but in the past few years I haven't had any problems with it. When I was in my twenties and on into my forties I had anxiety attacks. Sometimes they came quite frequently. Sometimes I would have one three or four times a week. I was under a lot of stress at that time and would have terrible dreams and would have several episodes of sleep paralysis. I came to the conclusion that it was caused from stress. I really don't think it's from lack of sleep because in the last ten years after I started security work and working with the county, I would probably go as much as 48 hrs without sleep. Now, I probably don't get but about four hours sleep a night. So it wasn't lack of sleep, I think the culprit(for me) was stress. I'm glad it's been a while since I had an episode of it, because it makes you feel helpless and terribly afraid. If you keep having problems with it, I'd see my doctor. He may prescribe you a sleep aid or something to help you relax. Good luck and I hope you get it under control.
