Dassodils: The main reason for poor health of many of us is lack of proper sleep. When I was a boy we use to sleep at 8 pm and get up at 6 am. Slowly about twenty years ago it became 9pm and 6 am. About ten years ago it became 10 am and getting up at 6 am. all because of TV, live matches etc. Nowadays 10.30 pm and 6.am this much sleep is sufficient. But youngsters like you if you get 8 hours sound sleep may be able to study very well. good day.

I agree with @ravisivan... I think young girl like you will need around 8 hours to sleep, so you can study well. The needs of sleep will reduce while you become older. Best wishes,

Everyone is different with how much sleep they need it's any where between 6 to 9 hours of sleep. Myself I don't have a bed time it's when ever I get tired or when every both of my kids are a sleep. One has a set bed time and the other one is up at all hours of the night and day since he is just a month old. I don't even get 6 hours of sleep. I wish I did that would be nice.

Ya..the time of sleeping is differing from each and every people.Oh..so that you will be very tired. and that will surely affect on your health. You have to take rest atleast for 8 hours per day.I understood this thing through this discussion.. You have to follow this theory to keep your health a better one..Thank you for your response..

People don't follow theories because they are theories not proven facts. I don't have to do a darn thing I don't want to do and you can't tell a women with two kids she needs to sleep 8 hours. Do you have kids? You can't just tell a baby mommy and daddy need 8 hours of sleep so you need to sleep for 8 hours. It doesn't work that way dear. Babies need to eat every 2 to 4 hours. Every human is different some people need more and less. I do not need 8 hours of sleep I've never had 8 hours sleep since I was a little girl. I can live off of 3 hours of sleep, and hours of sleep or just 45 minutes of sleep. If I'm lucky I might get 6 hours of sleep but it's not happening because it's a dream right now and when I finally get 6 plus hours of sleep it'll be when my kids are graduating high school. Sleep doesn't affect to much of anything. I almost never get sick and the only time I've been sick have been when I was pregnant because my hormones where in over drive which all women have that happen to them where they get sick more often when pregnant.

I know that the "experts" have a specific time that a person "should" sleep. Yet other "experts" recommend taking power naps during the day. Personally I sleep as long as my body wants too. If it is a work day, I will sleep 4-5 hours, then nap for 2 hours before work. If it is an off day, I sleep when I am tired in the evening (usually the morning) till when I wake up, then at some time during the day I will do a 2 hour "cat" nap. When I am on vacation it really varies, but usually never more than 6 hours in a stretch, because I just wake up.

That's right about 6-7 hours in a "normal" day, just not all at one time. When I was a teenager, it was never a problem to sleep 8 or more hours at one stretch, but that happens very rarely now, if at all. Just recently I returned from a trip with a 3 hour time difference, so I got to my home airport about 12:30 Am. By the time I got my luggage and got to my house (after a 45 min drive) it was about 1:45am. I was really tired, so I went to sleep at 3am, but I was wide awake by 9:30am.

I sleep for about eight to ten hours a day and it is really enough for me to wake up with no headaches and to face the day with a smile on my face.I think six hours of sleep is not enough because the suggested minimum time of healthy sleep is eight hours.

Eight hours..Ya.. Are you satisfied with your sleeping time?I am not.and all my classes are filled with my nap.The lectures will catch me on that time,Because of their disturbance,I will feel like head ache.Oh..that's a horrible time..Thanks..

6 hours is normal but in studies it really doesnt matter how long you sleep but how you are satisfied while sleeping. There are times that we sleep for 8 hours but when we woke up, it feels like we haven't sleep yet. And there are times that we have slept for 2 hours, but it feels like we already slept like forever. It's the satisfaction that counts.

My sleep schedule is all topsy-turvy. Lately I've been sleeping 8-12 hours during the daytime. Stay up at night and ding around on the computer and in myLot. I don't watch television so unless there is something real special airing that I've been notified about, I have no interest in being awake in the evening.

Hi Dassodils, Sleep is important for human. I read that people can survive without eating but people will certainly die if they don't sleep in 11 days. I sleep at 3 or 4 am.. It is late I know. But here's my condition, I work at home and I always start at 1 or 2 pm. I have tried to do it like normal people, you know, start work at 8 and the latest time to go to bed is 12. But I cannot do it. I mean, I feel so sleepy in the middle of the day and I don't feel productive. So, I switch back to my old habit. I sleep 8 to 10 hours a day. I read is the best period is 8 hours to sleep everyday.

Your body only needs four hours of sleep in a twenty four hour period to recover and work right. Your brain, however, needs a few more hours, and continuously sleep, not just a.few minutes here and there. Lately, vwith everything I have going on in my life, and all the different schedules, I do not sleep anymore. I am lucky to catch a nap for a few hours once or twice a day. And although I am tired, I have still been exercising, drinking water, and eating healthy so my lack of sleep doesn't catch up to me too bad. With everything going on in my life now it is just impossible for me to get a full night's rest, regardless of what time of day or day of the week it is. But I've been doing well so far, and trying to take care of myself the best I can, and I know things will change soon. Nothing stays the same for long. It's all part of the circle of life. Lol. Changing of the seasons I guess you could say.

having sufficient sleep is important in keeping your health at the maximum as many biological processes happen during sleep..such as cell regeneration, repair and etc.. lack of sleep also can affect the way of one's thinking because the brain did not get the rest it needed.. But for me..I only go to sleep when I feel like it..I'm a student but not that kind of type that stay up late or maybe even don't sleep at all just to finish my study.. I don't push my body to the limit as this can effect my health the next day.. sufficient sleep time for me is 8 hours.. the shortest I've taken was like 2 hours.. but I felt terrible the next day and really hard to maintain awake in lectures because the brain is actually very tired. Always study smart..:)

My sleeping time is at least 7 to 8 hours. If I sleep less time then feel laziness next day. I feel comfortable and fresh after proper sleeping.

I just used to sleep six to seven days per day. Many articles and the doctors had proved that eight hours is the maximum hours a good healthy body. I think six hours is quite OK but make sure that you do not reduce that six hours tow three or two due to simple reasons it will badly affect you and your body.

My sleeping time usually is 10PM. But if I still have lots of work to do, it can be as late as 1 or 2AM. Then I wake up at 7AM, or 4:30AM if I need to cook breakfast for my siblings. All in all, I think I'm having from 3-7 hours of sleep on the average. Not really healthy, so I try to augment it by taking one hour naps in the afternoon. Unless again, of course, I am too busy.

I don't necessarily have a sleeping time. When I lived alone I would usually sleep from 4pm to 10 pm so I would be awake during the time where my online friends are awake. Now that I live with two kids that is no longer possible. I usually end up going to bed at around midnight.

6-7hrs minimum is preferred. Doctors say no harm even if you sleep 5hrs. when you feel exhausted you should rest/sleep listen to the body's demand. That's best judgement, just the same way as when you feel thirst and you feed yourself/the body by water!! Enjoy your sleep without worrying how many hours you ahve lost in sleeping but be warned that too much is too bad and that may hamper your performance and creativity!!
