my expectations could be off

I guess you could say I'm a very religious person.. Once in a while of course, I wonder at my expectations. It's not that I'm focused on the 'next' life, neglecting to live this one, but I do think of the 'hereafter' quite often. "The lion will eat straw like the ox, the bear will graze with the cow.." (Isaiah 11:7) - I've come to the conclusion that if my expectations are off, it can only be that Creator God surpasses whatever I think or perceive Him to be, but it is impossible for Him to be less than I think or perceive Him to be. - Do you think I'm right? Do you think there is a natural law existing which suggests/supports this?

Yes, it is IMPOSSIBLE for Him to be less than you think or perceive Him to be. How can the mind of (wo)man even start to imagine what the things of God are like?? Eye hath not seen... The hereafter is gonna be the freakin' bomb (that's a technical term for 'simply, breathtakingly, awesome'). And for all those who doubt this, stick around:)

People can have different ideas about God. It's hard to know what your expectations are if I don't know what you perceive Him to be. If you believe Him to be love, life, and perfection, there’s no reason to have any doubts about Him. It’s not a law that supports this. It is God’s love.

I think of the hereafter quite often, too. I am reminded of the verse in Isaiah that says, "For since the beginning of the world [men] have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, [what] he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him." Great expectations? Yes, I'd say so. I expect great things of God and I agree that it's impossible for Him to be less than we think because our minds are so very small compared to His creativity and His love for us.

Sure! I am a big fan of natural laws and I think that to a very great extent people get what they imagine they can have. I think that is true now and also in the future.

To live your life with expectations of some god or creator is good and if does not matter what expectations you have of that god because in fact nobody knows who or what created the universe and laid down the natural laws by which it all works. While we are investigating such things there does not seem to be any chance of us finding out what power is actually in control of the universe. All the ideas in the bible and other religious writings are just ideas in the heads of the writers and not in the real world. So it is fine for you to live your life in accordance with the ideas in your head as they are as good and as valid as anybody else's ideas

Hi flowerchilde, I don't think that there is nothing wrong about your expectation as I am expecting for God's Kingdom to come as well. I also think about it often and I just can't help but be sad since I know myself that I won't do it to the next stage LOL. Seriously, I don't think I deserve to be saved as I am a very disobedient.

You can't be any worse than me dear.. How many times do I think, thank Goodness it doesn't depend on me! ..how Paul concluded for us all, that we're saved "through faith", through believing! And, he goes on to say, all and every transformation within us is carried out the very same way! "Through faith"! (I don't see an emote for ecstatic joy..oh wait!) How happy I was to realize thAt! And do you know? I've actually started to make some (little bit) of progress! We have one rule, love God! And then "Hebrews' says something about "being obedient" to this new covenant and being sure not to miss the mark but to fully "enter into this rest"! And how in this great gift of "Sabbath Rest" for us to do like Him - "when He had finished all" the creation work and then He "cease(d) from all works". ...I don't see an emote for extreme and heartfelt relief.. :)) have a good day..!
