Do you believe that finishing a college course may help one find a bright future for himself? herself? If so, what advice or counsel can you give to one who's talented, interested and desirous of finishing a college course but faced with problems such as poverty, orphans, farm-bred, lack of prime necessities in life, etc.

I think that it is great that you are considering going to college even though you might have been through a lot in your life. You shouldn't think that your background would mean that you couldn't go, because there is lots of help for those students who might not have had the money to pay for the course like many of the other people would have. I have just completed a degree and I would fully recommend it to anybody who thought that they might want to try it, because the amount that I have learned in the past three years is truly amazing and is something that I wouldn't want to change for anything.

Thanks for the encouragement, GemmaR. Poverty and other reasons should not prevent one from pursuing his scholastic goals. As an example, I pursue college at age 22 when I was already married with 2 kids. Now I'm already a retired government employee and pensioner. I let also my wife finish college. Now she's a retired teacher and pensioner and our kids, a total of 5, have finished college and are on their own with jobs and raising families.

A college course can definitely provide a better future but it is sad when financial problems become the reason for not being able to finish school. However, if that someone you are referring to is really determined to go to school, there are lots of scholarships from the government, private institutions, foundations including politicians. These groups are more than too willing to provide scholarships for the deserving. There are also well known shopping malls in the country who offer funding for qualified students. I know of some people who have gained college education for free. Not only are tuition fees free but there are allowances provided.

I would tell him to read alot and try to be good in English and be online and learn more things of his interest. Once he can operate computer and have a good command over english, he can earn good and then use the money to pay for his college. The one advantage we have today is that there is no age limit to studies. So read lot of books and learn by yourself first. I am sure he can do that for a start. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.
