At the sidelines of the Center for Strategic and International Studies forum in Washington,DC Wednesday (Thursday in Manila),Del Rosario said China reneged on the agreement reached sometime in June during negotiations in Manila between him and Chinese Ambassador Ma Keqing. According to him, the Philippine government may soon send back its ships to Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal if China does not comply with an earlier agreement between the two countries to pull out their vessels from the hotly-contested rock formation in the West Philippine Sea. Will this statement from Secretary Rosario will again add fuel and escalate our dispute with China? What course do you think should our government take to assert our sovereignty over Panatag Shoal?

With China acquiring their own Aircraft Carrier ship very recently and having one of the biggest army in the world is such a hard thing to confront and negotiate with. I think that we can only deal with them in ways were no arms would be needed. WE can only negotiate and make sure we can break an agreement with them. Doing what the Japan Govt is doing is a very dangerous since we do not have the equipment to really protect our seas. China is becoming a bully nowadays and they are asserting their muscles especially they know we cannot match them.

This is a very sad footnote on our history as a nation. Definitely, China is really intimidating and coercing our government to give up the Panatag Shoal and telling us that we can not assert our sovereignty over the piece of land knowingly we cannot defend our territories and that because all China Sea belongs to them.

this is really sad news. China is now the new super power country. because of its military capabilities they are confident that they will get what they want from us. our country is looking forward for diplomatic agreement but i think the Chinese Government wont listen to this. :(

I believe that the Chinese government will never let us bring the issue on any International body and will insist on a bilateral talks,in which they will surely monopolize to their advantage.

It's sad really romzee, but China didn't agree on pulling their own fleet and not to mention they made a city out of those other islands in the disputed territories. China's bullying won't stop at all until they get what they want. I have lost confidence that china will ever allow a joint ownership since the government wanted them more now that they have the military advantage.

Yes, it is very clear that the Chinese government won't stop bullying us. They know we can't match them militarily and the Philippine government is too afraid to engage them in combat unlike our Vietnamese counterparts who are willing to die in defending their territory.
