Imam framing an innocent christian girl?

I've been hearing about this blasphemy case in Pakistan where some girl was accused of tearing the Quran and probably burning it? What I didn't realize is that the one accused is a Christian Girl. i wouldn't be surprise. Is there freedom of Religion in Pakistan? is it like Muslim dominated country doesn't allow other religions to be practices? hope this isn't a retaliation of some pastor burning a quran and some making that stupid anti islam video. Ok so you can blame the media again for sensationalizing it too much again. I when the peace loving people are gonna stand up against all these bad news..only fundamentalist groups are being fed in these hate

I heard that the girl was merely trying to keep warm and that she did not know that she was tearing and burning up the Koran. I don't see why the family would want to run away in fear of severe persecution when Islam is believed to be peace loving and reasonable to understand that the girl acted ignorantly. How is it the family isn't convinced here? I suppose Islam is basically subjective and violent where it does not listen and be reasonable to understand others' mistakes. I hate to say this but this just prove how fundamentally wrong Islam can be especially the leaders who are never seen to be on the end of stopping or stand against the wrongs within the religion - Islam. The other side may want to blame on the imperfection of human but if we look at the big picture, then I am sure we will be able to the pieces of the puzzle on how extremists and radicals can be existing within. Scary isn't it?

The Imam's involvement came about because he needed to produce the evidence of the burnt Koran. As the evidence had been destroyed and could not be found, he then came up with this craziest idea to "frame" her. However, I do not think the girl has done anything REALLY wrong when she needs to keep herself warm and stay alive with nothing available other than the Koran. She is not as if she is burning the Koran intentionally to denounce or denigrate Islam. So if Islam is about peace and love, then the Muslims should understand her plight and have exceptions especially for little children of other faith.

Hello artemeis, I thought it was the imam himself who burned it to set her up? if your argument is true then she really is trouble. i think there's a lot of too sensitive people out there who just want to push non believers and then forcing them either join islam or be tortured.

I pray that they will releaze the girl and send her to a safe house faraway from all these extremists, instead of continue to lock her up in jail base on the reason it is for her safety. This poor girl is beated up badly, and have to live in fear of her life ever since the accusation surfaced. Some of these extremists even gathered in front of her house demanding her to be burned alive despite all these eye witnesses testimony she is being framed by that hateful imam. http://rt.com/news/pakistan-girl-imam-evidence-168/ She is facing an uphill battle now and could have cost her life soon. Sigh!!

The woman is a 14 yo girl, and at the most recent report the police have determined that she is innocent, and that the Iman who brought the charge had framed her. He is likely facing blasphemy charges himself, since he tore pages from the Koran and burned them as part of his attempt to frame the girl. At least, for once, there may be a just result from this charge. Lash

Hello grandpalash, Good for the authorities of pakistan, at least you have confidence on them putting a real charge on the culprit. how pathetic and lame it is for her being frame like for no reason. I don't think allah would like that much. shame on him and he deserve to go to jail for what he did.

Yes this is very true and very unfortunate. The case is still under investigation and so far the Imam seems to be the main culprit. There are some witnesses who earlier testified that they had seen the Imam mixing 2 pages from the Qur'an with the burnt pages from some book. Later some of the witnesses backtracked from this statement. http://dawn.com/2012/10/01/rimsha-case-witnesses-who-came-forward-against-jadoon-backtrack/ Looking at the the age of the girl and her mental condition I do not think she could have done any such offence and hope the real culprits are brought to justice.

Lash, I totally agree. If this so called imam is found guilty I wish he be tried for blasphemy and also for inciting riots, defaming Islam etc. Here I would also like to point out that those testified against this maniac are all Muslims. This proves that a handful of fanatics are working to make the religion look bad. The Muslim leaders here in Pakistan want thorough investigations into this case and the culprits punished http://dawn.com/2012/09/04/ulema-want-jit-for-blasphemy-case-probe/comment-page-1/#comment-323866 please also read comments at bottom of this page to see how ordinary Muslims react to such incidents. It is not correct to assume Muslims do not speak against such fanatics. We do speak, perhaps people do not listen to it.

Naseem, I applaud you. And please note, I do not blame your religion for this, I blame this misguided fool for twisting your religion to suit his psychological needs, which is pretty much my intention in all the criticisms I have of some of the things done in the name of the various religions. Lash

Hello Naseem, That's very good actually if good and even more mature muslims even go against the bad ones. because you know how some media can be too darn bias with this. people from the media mostly want ratings that will make too sensationalized media news of christian vs muslim thing. am glad they are investigating him

Yes I agree all these divisions have got to stop it is enough already. It seems it is much easier to hate and blame people than it is to love which is against any religion if you think about it.

Hello winterose, it's because of those fundamentalist on both sides. we shouldn't let ourselves be dragged into these things because hate doesn't bring you into a good point but never ending struggle of knowing who is right and wrong or win / loose. we have to find a way bridge the gap

Sometimes refraining to retaliate is the best solution to this since if we would act with the same violent reaction then there is a possibility to escalate the conflict further than pacifying the situation. I know Pakistan is very Islamic state but tolerates other minority religion to propagate in their country. That is why you would not expect freedom of religion in that place since majority of them are Islamic in faith. I just hope that the government would intervene that no one will be favored in here and the rule of law should prevail than doing the mob mentality of just punishing them without the proper investigation.

Hello Rsa101, I hope the Christian girl would be spared from this false accusation, what's the point of making that conspiracy anyways. it seems that a lot of people wanted to spark hate just for the sake of conflict. well, they did investigate it this time and found out to be a frame up from the imam who tore and burned the pages himself.

So I hope the case is close and this should not anymore escalate the situation since investigation has already made that the Christian Girl is innocent in here and this Imam should bear the punishment of his fellow Muslim brother for doing this setup and escalate terror.

Yes i really hope this is not true at all because it word spark a lot more fury from those people who think they are being abused or hated. And yes i hope the media will also stop from sensationalizing it too because it adds more fire.

Hello Jazel_juan, I thought it was just another muslim woman tearing up the Quran but it was a christian woman being framed. I don't know but i think the immam was a nut about it. but at least this is a clear case of not reacting, we shouldn't react violently the way they did or it will cause us the suffering and no peace will be attained.
