Australia and Srilanka are the strongest and also weakest sides in super eights

hi friends.at the present moment in super eights,2 teams did not lose any matches and 2 teams have not won any matches. the former is australia and srilanka while the latter is newzealand and south africa. talking about australia, they look the overall best side in their group in batting ,bowling and fielding. but one aspect caught my eyes. their top order. the top 3 aussies combined score in this tournament is 439 while lankan's top 3 scored 371. if you wanna look at the 4th highest run scorer for both team, you might see craig white at number 42 and mendis at 31. just one match left for both team before the semi-final knock outs and their middle order didnot get any chance. what happens if the top 3 suddenly fails for both team during the semis? will the not yet tested middle-order will be able to stabilise and yet score runs? thats why they are both the strongest yet weakest team in this group.

Exactly correct. Both teams are top heavy and they have their top 3 batsmen playing in the 1,2,3 positions. But the fact is that so far they have really fired and fired heavily. So in that sense they have kept the flag flying and if your top three batsman fire then a team is usually in a great shape. But if any team breaks through the top three then the Aussies could be shaky and so too Sri Lanka. Let's see how the last round of matches go. Cheers! Ram

I would like to think that SL have peaked early and so is the case with Australia. West Indies is showing signs of coming to real form with that close win against NZ. India is on the boil too. Dhoni has given them the winning tip' go out and attack with all you have got, the result will take care of itself'. I won't be surprised if it is west indies- india final but the big if is to thrash Sa today and show us that it is peaking at the right time. West Indies remain the favorites, to me.

I think after the result that Pakistan got against Australia, India is again on the mat. They would need to win big against South Africa to qualify. Let's keep our fingers crossed!! Cheers! Ram

what you are saying has more to what it meets the eye for sure, since aussies have only watson and srilanka has only jayawardene, other are weak links,so once if we get past them ,opponents can easily invade the team
