Is there a good timing when posting on mylot?

I noticed that sometimes only a few members respond on discussions. Is it because when they were posted only a few members were online or the discussions are not that interesting? When do you think is the good time to post then?

I have never really considered the time of day to be relevant. I agree that there are times at which more members are online, but I doubt of they respond only to discussions or posts that are currently being submitted. I live in the United Kingdom, so I tend to be in bed when the site becomes busiest, because I imagine that the majority of members are from the United States. I still see the same topics as someone online at a busier time would. There may be more responses or the potential of more responses at a busier time, but this is not likely to be affected by when it was originally submitted.

Hello meumeu25, I appreciate the point that you are making, but a decent discussion should be visible the following day or it would not acquire many responses. If it is still receiving responses the following day then it should have been active at most times of the day. I suppose this would be almost impossible to test because even if a discussion that you consider better receives less responses it may be that it simply appeals to less members.

@meumeu Thats why, there is a tag and interest feature. Its used to place a discussion on one platform. So when a post get respond, others will also get a chance. Cause it will be placed under a post, just try to scrolldown the page. You will see some discussion with the same tag.

Hi Asylum :), I understand your point but in my opinion an interesting discussion made during the busiest hour in the website will more likely get responses, that's because lots of members will be able to see it, like Beamer said when a discussion is already old it gets pushed down by the newer ones and I also doubt that everybody will spend some time searching for older discussions especially when it's been made a few days back. Happy mylotting :)

I think after 10pm as per indian standard time is best time to post the discussions in mylot to get more responses. I tried this once. One day i had posted all the interesting discussions at different different timing and got to know this.

Hi, It's good that you know the right timing in your time zone. It's only 7pm here in the middle east and I dont really go online during this time. In fact I only go online when I have the opportunity, using my mobile phone.

There is one side of this question. if the discussion is interesting or controversial or though provoking or funny then we may have responses irrespective of the time we post because -- members get email of posts made by their friends. Always online mylot members only will post based on what is appearing on the screen and not go by mails received. also true some members have opted for not receiving mails from a few members in order to avoid flooding of mails.

I get email notifications from mylot, like you said when my friends here start a new discussion I get notified with each post too, until the emails piles up and I have to find the notifications from the discussion that I started. And also, sometimes I go from there to mylot and just go to new discussions.

1 - If you post topics that people here can't relate too, then it doesn't matter what time you post them, you will get few responses regardless. 2 - If you post a topic and then don't comment back to those who respond, youwill find that on your future topics there will be fewer and fewer responses no matter what time you post them. Youhave one from 5 weeks ago where youleft many responders feeling like you were not interested in their response. 3 - You earn nothing for the responses that others post. They earn for those. You earn when you comment back, with relevant comments which further the topic and create a discussion. 4 - No matter what time the topic is posted, if it is interesting it will get responses 24/7 and for days later too.

If you have little time to be here then you could comment back on a previous discussion before starting a new one I still have some of my own that I must catch up with too but I don't do that until I am certain that Idon't have other things offline to attend to. I am on and off most of the day and only rearely recently (mostly week-ends) can I be here non-stop, but I do get back to them all eventually.

Hi mysdianait :), Thank you for a good explaination. And in number 2, sorry (if your talking about a discussion of mine that is left unresponded by me) it's just that some times I get so busy I can't find time to get back online anymore and it takes a few days before I'm back. But I always try to respond even if I posted the discussion a few days ago.

I guess whenever you think of a good post, try to post it already. You might forget about it if you'll still postpone it. If we are offline, we can still catch up with those posted earlier by checking the previous posts. Some myLotters are also busy posting and commenting their own discussions so sometimes they don't have time to comment on someone else's discussions. Just post it and wait for some comments. Goodluck. Happy mylotting.

Yes, we have the same problem and that is time. Anyway, let's maximize our time whenever we have some. Let's comment and post discussions, etc.

Hi angelkara:), As what I've said I don't have much time to spend online so I can't post whenever I want to and you are right I forget what I was suppose to post after some time. I also check my emails but I get bunch of them I don't know which one to read first, so sometimes I just go directly to mylot to see for interesting topics or as what you've said respond to the responses on my discussion. Happy mylotting to you too and have a great week :).

a pleasant day meumeu25, as far as i believed, everyday is a good time to logged on at this site. as this site is really good. being logged on here, you are gaining in two ways, one is learning and the second one is earning. its like learn and earn under one site.

that is because mylot is 24 x 7. If it is daytime in one corner of world it is night time in the other corner of world. it gets compensated. Topic should be good and then it will get good responses.

Hi airashiela and ravisivan, Yes, that's the best thing here in mylot you learn and earn at the same time. I'm not really sure even if it's day time in the other part of the world, I think it's the night time that a lot of members go online, maybe because they are also doing there full time job in the day time.

I often make my posts starting 5am in my country, that will be 5pm U.S. time. Mylotters are everywhere and so we are having those different time zones. I think, we may post them anytime, for all our discussions are posted permanently (provided it is not deleted). The catch here is in order to have a lot of respondent, let's make it sure that our discussions are interesting, riveting as it is. So, let's enjoy our time here, while others share their own. Thanks

I work in a grave yard shift. That's why I usually posts at 5am, after work. i agree with you, what matters is that it attracts the contributor even how old it is. Thanks

Hi mikyung, Wow, 5am is quite early to go online, I'm still snoring by that time :P. I also agree with you that the posts should be interesting enough to get responses. And also if the discussion is not push down by newer interesting post, it might catch the members attention even if it's days old.

Hello Hatley, ( finally I wrote your name right :P) Yes, I also noticed that now, I usually post during day time and never got a fast response from other users just like now. Also the regular responders are online, I don't see them during the day.

Yes I do thought about the same question. In my opinion, I think according to IST I get more responses when it is during the day time;that is between 10 am and 6 pm. I got into this conclusion because I started discussions which are similar in their inner context but in different timings. During this I got better responses when it was during the day time. That is why I am saying this and also I am not sure about everyone. I think this will depend on the topic and the discussion we start.

Hi :), When I post a discussion in the day time here, I get responses but only a few. I think it's not just about timing, everybody is right, it's what interests the readers that make them respond as well.

Partly this is true, although I wouldn't know what time is more ideal. Let's say a topic posted at a time wherein few members are online would obviously generate a few responses (or none at all if the topic didn't catch the fancy of those members). And by the time the number of online members swell up, your topic has already been pushed way back on the queue. And I don't think a lot of members scroll down the list of topics too far back.

Hi, I totally agree with you, in the day time here, I observe that there are only a few members that are online, sometimes I see new members and I admit, I dont scroll down the old discussions since I only have a limited time to saty online.

I rarely to make a discussion, but when there is something on my mind who need to be shared or asked. I'll post it whenever the time it is. You said that you use your cellphone, do you have any problem with it? Cause usually, those who have under 500 post sometime will get trouble when try to make a post. My advice is don't take too long on writing. After you reach 500 post, you could use your cellphone anytime you want. I always use my cellphone to be here, with help from operamini mobile browser.

Hi devilova :), Yes, I use my mobile phone and I'm not experiencing trouble with it so far. It's the wifi that I am having a hard time with because it is loading too slow and sometimes the signal doesn't go far I have to go close to the router so I can be connected to the Internet and it's taking so much of my time I just prefer to do my job and do mylotting some other time. And when I think of something to post I'm not able to post it immediately until I forget about it. Happy mylotting :).

It is a good point. Mylot has more members from USA, India, Philipines. It is not known members from which country are more active--let us take USA. then if it is posted during the evening time of usa we may get good responses also evening time of India.

Hi meumeu! Well, I think anytime is a perfect time. Our posts will be seen by our friends when they log in anytime of the day. It is always there. Our discussion will receive responses based on its content. If other members did not find it interesting or they can not say anything about the topic, there is a possibility of not getting a response. Have a nice day!

Hi Aries, I agree with you, the contents of the discussion which the members can relate to more likely get a response but I also believe that there is a good timing to post an interesting discussion for me it also like selling goods there are good times and slow times. :P Have a nice day too and happy mylotting :).

Hello, I think discussions of some of our fellow mylotters got a very low response because some can not relate to their topic. In other words, it is not that so interesting. I think its not about the time because countries were not the same in hours am I right? While we are sleeping, some also are busy here sharing their thoughts.
@meumeu25 (917)

Hi :), Yes, your right, although I still think that right timing is one of the factors to get more responses. Because even if the other parts of the world is busy sharing there thoughts, the number of members in each country is not the same. So I think the percentage of members that will notice our discussion is not the same. For example if we are sleeping now given that the country we are in have hundreds of members and the countries that are awake only have 10 active or online members, and nobody got interested on the discussion, our discussion will be push down and by the time the country that have lots of members are up the discussion is already old and we will be lucky if somebody scroll it down and responded on it to be on the top again.
