Coffee has always been a part of my daily life. As a matter of fact, I cannot start a day without sipping in a cup of coffee. It alerts me. It prepares my tummy for gastronomic encounters during the day and just the smell of it, uh, makes my day. Now i wonder if what i have been doing is good or detrimental to mh health. So far i have never experienced any bad effects of coffee to me. However there are days when i crave for coffee and i take 3 cups of it within a day. Is this a sign of caffeine addiction? I hope not.. I dont know if i should stop drinking or minimize drinking it or just go on with this coffee savvy... Whew.. I need opinions on this. Seriously.

Well good to hear that u drink coffee looking at its better perspective. But i do not like the idea of having it three times a day, as that might mean more of caffeine content getting inside your body which might subdue the good effects of having coffee. try to have at most twice a day and if possible keep it to once a day. It needs your participation to stop drinking coffee in excess and try to involve other healthy drinks in your diet and i am sure your coffee intake will reduce. What say?

For me, it is a BIG YES. I am addicted to coffee and to chocolates. Dark chocolates, I guess some of them, contains caffeine. And i really love the taste of its bitterness yet soothing taste. That is why doctors say that drinking coffee is done once a day. If you do more than that, your kidney will suffer. You should control your addiction to coffee. Try to eat coffee-flavored candies. This is my alternative to fight my coffee addiction. :) Hope this will help.

i believe that Caffeine is highly addictive i find that because i work long hours and night shifts that i tend to drink a lot of coffee and energy drinks to keep myself awake through my shifts. I also think that its important to stop children from drinking to much coffee as its too addicitive.

I live in one of the biggest coffee areas (if not the biggest) in the US and this is a well known issue/love. Yes, caffeine is addicting. Coffee is one of the main (and tastiest) ways to get caffeine. Signs of coffee/caffeine addiction usually start with headaches or mild lethargy. As far as I know it's not a real "bad" thing, except that it's a stimulant. If it concerns you and you want to avoid the headaches associated with "quitting" coffee, slowly lessen how much you drink. Also, don't drink coffee (or anything with caffeine; pepsi, coca cola, mt dew, etc) within 4-6 hours of "bed time" so that it doesn't affect the depth of your sleep. If you're regularly groggier than most in the morning, this is likely because of drinking coffee too much or too late in the day. It may not seem to affect you, but it keeps your brain from falling into a truly deep sleep and that can affect your attention, reaction time, etc the next day.

Normally 2 to 3 cups of coffee is not that bad rather it improves the concentration but using more than that is definitely not good. Some people used to take more than 8 cups per day.Use of more coffee cause gastric abnormalities and increases the gastric acid formation.Hyper active gastric acid causes acidity and mucosal damage. As it is diuretic in action drain out the water content in body and promote renal stone formation. Some people like to take strong coffee.Caffeine over dose causes convulsion and precipitate epileptic condition and sometimes overdose may cause respiratory depression.Don't worry, you are not taking over dose so enjoy that.

Don't stress. A little coffee is all right, like just a cup a day. Caffeine is a stimulant and is not good for you if you have too much of it. I have chocolate every day for some caffeine as caffeine also has other properties. Smoking is a terrible addiction and too much coffee can lead to an addiction. Why not try caffeine free? It of course has some preservatives because it is stripped from the caffeine - but it is still better than having three cups a day. Find a nice exotic tea and start with a coffee and then have tea for the rest of the day.

I do believe caffeine and coffee drinks are addictive. We get into a routine of having it, then when we dont have it our bodies know. Just like smoking, or so on, our brain tells us we need it. I remember working in a coffee shop and got myself in a routine of having a mocha (half hot chocolate, and half coffee) every shift. When I didnt want one one night as I wasnt feeling good I had a big headache, and felt ill even more.

Coffee has caffeine, that's the reason why we are addict of coffee. But sometimes we need to minimize in drinking coffee, in my side, i drink it in the morning and in the evening. because that's the coldest day for me. although it makes us alert in doing something in our everyday doings. thanks pal. ...good day! and God bless you!...

I was then a coffeeholic. I can drink three to four times mug a day. I probably became addicted to it for some time. But when I decided not to drink I can do it too, so I don't label myself as addicted. I can do once a day actually preferably in the morning or if however I get twice is just because of the food I ate that I want to vanish the taste from my tongue. Yet today I got it twice :(

It is based on how we set our mind for addictiveness. Caffeine is bit addictive by nature. People tend to have coffee at the same time each day. Our biological clock sets alarm for the intake of coffee at the same time each day. In a routine life, it is normal. When situation and place changes, all the routine changes and if we do not want to get addicted to a thing, we have to utilize situation and place change and go for alternatives if we want.
