Good day Fellow Mylotters,
A while ago, me and my sister are chatting. And to my surprised she have started to talked to me in English, so I have responded her in English as well. Instead of talking in our own language, I opt to continue speaking in English. Thinking this is one good way for me to practice speaking in this dialect. As well as to pronounce it properly. And I feel good after our conversation. As I really miss talking in English just like what I used to do before. In this regard, I am thinking to practice more again to talk more in English.

You and your sister deserve praise for speaking together in English when it took an effort and discipline to do so. You will really help your sister to speak with confidence too. Writing for MyLot will also help you but you should study the comments made by people whose first language is English if you want to improve your grammar. MyLottas all can communicate in English but some of it is very bad English and you want to improve yours. If you want to improve your pronunciation you should listen to BBC World Service or whatever English programmes you can hear where you live.
I wish you every success because it is difficult to find the time to learn and I hope that you and your sister will discover the pleasure of learning together.

A pleasant day 41CombedaleRoad,
I am really looking forward to exercise and practice my English speaking again. Since I haven't use that language long time ago. Not only to exercise saying English words but to have the correct pronunciation as well.

One thing that really liked about myLot is that I can practice my English writing in here.
Since I am not using English in my day to day activities, and that I think being online will perhaps help me to practice it and that hope it will be develop if not improve it.

Learning English is good for you, I'm glad u have decided to practice again! That will get u farther than where u were yesterday! But it may be challenging.
For me, when I started learning my native tounge, it was very hard and I gave up too easily. Learning Spanish for me was suppose to be simple fast and easy. It was the opposit and that made me a little mad but I kept telling myself that a little three year old knows more than me; I could do it. So I started listening to the radio and watching tv in Spanish and now I know a little more than last week!
I want to learn French next but first I need to finish learning Spanish and that will be good for my résumé! Knowing more than one language is good and it's even better for my future career whatever it may be!
So from one person who is learning to another person who is also learning, good luck!

English is the universal language. If you speak good english , you are always edge over the others. You can only be good in speaking English if you practice it but if you will not practice it , though you know it the tendency is you will stammer because your tongue is no longer use to it. So constant practice can make you always perfect but remember , the best way is to have a correct practice then it makes one perfect.

That's a wonderful idea. It will not only boost your ego but you will also gain satisfaction from it.
When i was in highschool, i would really love to mimic how my english teacher speaks. She is just so good at it. Some teachers are majors in English but some are not really good. This teacher i had before, I was really influenced by her and she saw my interests. She encouraged me to practise the language, learn more about it and perfect pronouncing the words. I felt so happy.:)If you are good at it. its something that you can be proud of, not all people can speak and use the language fluently. So keep it up:)

I commend you for your interest in practicing English. I have spoken English my whole life. It is my native language. I know a lot of people would like to have English as a language to speak, write, and comprehend. If that is your choice, it takes practice. I continue to practice speaking, writiing, and comprehending English. I always will. I wish you well with your English studies. You are well on your way right now.

My mom use to speak in English when she's visiting us.
Maybe it's not her intention because she's speaking in our mother tongue and when she forget a word (Filipino word) by then she starts speaking in English.
I can't blame her since she's living and staying in Europe for longer days then a one or two months vacation here in our country.
It's also good to have someone who speaks English so we can practice our communication skill.

Hello Airasheila, Is she somewhere in western country? on the other side I am happy that she can speak english. but other than that I am kinda disappointed, my point is, she is only talking to you? why can she just speak to you in Filipino? of course, we have the right of speech but unless you go to work in a CSR or jobs that handles with english speaking clients or customers, you could speak in native tongue. Sorry but i just felt disturb by it because you are already good in even typing in english and am sure your speaking it is good, but it's just the two of you...

If i chat with my cousin and niece in other country they didn't talk to me in English but they talk to me in our local dialect which is Visayan language and i find it difficult for me coz im more into Tagalog than Visaya since i already grow up here in manila, so most of the time i can practice my English speaking through my chat mate who are from other country and i can also practice it at work as most of the time we are talking to Americans.

Certainly if you wish to improve then you need to use English both as a language of verbal communication and for your writing. But you also need to speak with people whose first language is English in order to improve in leaps and bounds. Many people whose first language is not English suffer because, whilst they are understood, they are not using the language correctly and are therefore not growing.

Hi..It's great that you're persistent with learning the English language..Learning another language can be more challenging especially if you're just trying to learn it. I would suggest practicing the language home too and encourage your parents or anyone in your family to converse in English rather than your own language..Try to learn new words everyday also helps with your vocabulary strength and level..
