He is commonly called "Maoy" in our place. Every one in town know him for his restless alcoholic problem. Every morning he is seated at the waiting shed near our home. He will be seen their often with a bottle of hard drink. He had been actually making that shed his house. His wife leave him for another man. He is address as one of the cancer in our society. I don't know if he is affected by that or no. You cannot trace or read any reactions in his face every time his old acquainted friends throw bad comments about him. He is a true hopeless individual. One morning when i was about to cross the street, i saw a fast running taxi coming. Every thing happened too fast. I saw everything as if in a slow motion action movie. I can't barely move and shout. I saw a little girl escaped from her mother's hold and run. Maoy moved faster than i thought. He rescued the girl and he got badly hit instead. He was rushed to the hospital but declared dead on arrival. Will he be remember by his heroic deed or as a simple bystander? For me,by his heroic deed.We cannot judge one person for his looks alone.

Wow, that's so inspiring. I bet those people who say bad things about him feels guilty after that incident. We cannot really judge a person by his outside appearance or by his personal attitude. I salute Maoy for his good deed. May he rest in peace. So sad he wasn't able to make it. He could have done a lot more good things than the others. Thanks for sharing this inspirational story. Hope this will serve as an inspiration to others not to tease anyone by his looks but to do good things everyday.

I think it's a human nature to have a good side and a bad side. It's best that on his last breath he chooses to do what exactly right in the eyes of God.

What a heroic act that we have to salute for. We really dont judge other people easily especially if they dont do any harm at all. People used to judge other by their physical appearance. It really human nature to help thats why when Maoy saw the child that might hit, with no second thought, he immediately do his best save the kid. Salute for those kind of people who dont have any hesitation in helping others.

Physical appearance can be very deceiving sometimes. But The good thing is, he never forgets his real self. He regain the dignity he lost and brings back the respect of many, even though it did comes too late for him.

It's a painful truth about life...often, you need to lose a life to be a hero. People take for granted people and recognize the value when they are gone.

I feel sad for Maoy. Despite his status in life, he still had the heart to save someone ignoring the possibility of him being injured in the end. I hope people will remember him as someone who made a good deed by offering his own life.

Yes, not every one had the courage to waste his life to someone else. I admire his character. He was a good natured individual that reacted instinctively to a call of help without having a second thought.

This is sad. Oftentimes, we judge a person mainly by the way they look or dress but what we see can deceive us. I admire Maoy for what he has done, it's just sad that he has to die for people to acknowledge the fact that he can be of importance and help to our society.

What have you said was true. We are always blinded by what is pleasing in our eyes. We often forget the true value of a person. It sad that we recognize it very late already.
