Most of the tenants living here in our building are angry and kept on slamming their doors after talking to our maintenance personnel. The scenario is we do not have water running to our faucet and most of the people are need to go to work and take a bath first. I am angry too because i can not wash our dishes and can't mop the floor. I am hoping that they can fixed the problem as soon as possible or else many people will file a complain against our building owner.

You are in Makati. Is water shortage a problem in your place? Or it is there in your building only? In chennai some flats we use to buy water by paying money.

Hi ravisivan, yes i am living in Makati and the water shortage happened only in our building because of some issue about our water tank. Anyway everything is fine now and hoping we did not encounter any water problems again in the future. Thanks

we have started collecting rain water. we use it to wash the garage, to flush the toilet at the back of the house, to soak laundry, and to wash rags, mops, etc. take this water outage as a sign to always have clean water on standby. have big plastic containers in the bathroom, the laundry area, and bottles of water in the kitchen for drinking, cooking and washing dishes. use them but always refill them so they're always fresh. heat water in the kettle and pour them in airpots.

Hi hereandthere, hope i can able to collect water from rain too but it's impossible here in my home but when i was young i used to save water from rain and used it for cleaning too. Hi mydanods, our water problem here already fixed and we have a cleaning water running to our faucet again. How i wish i can able to save water from the rain since it's rainy season here in my country too but it was impossible. I am living in the building and has available place for tankers. thanks

the rainy seasons are here again where i live and are we happy? there are very few places where one can get clean water from boreholes so residents spend lots of money buying water from water tankers. you have to call them on the phone and fix an appointment else you'd have to wait until the weekend. the rains provide easy water for things such as cleaning and flushing the toilet so the water from tankers which are more expensive can last longer.

What's the main cause of the water outage? Is it something that needs fixing within your building or are all the buildings in your neighborhood affected? Because if it's the former then you could go raise your issues with the owner of the building ASAP, but if it's the latter then you could raise your issues with the water department (though you can't really do anything if it's something that broke down in the system and needs time to be fixed). However, I think your problems are far less pressing compared to those who needs to take a bath for work! hehehehe.. Have a great mylot experience ahead!

The main reason of the water outage was they fixing the water tank for some reason without prior notice. If only they notified us ahead we can able to save enough water for cleaning, cooking and for bathing. We had been an issue in water and filed a complained about it,i am hoping they will take actions to our complaints. Now, most of the tenants buying purified water just to take a bath, i already both water too so that i can wash the dishes.

They should not fix anything so important without giving notice to the tennants first. Although you might not gather enough water for a bath, you certainly need some water for cooking and cleaning up.

hi Bhebelen in most cities here in the US there is a dept that overlooks building maintenance in apartment buildings and you can go there and complain and get the water turned on if the owner is not doing so at once. its against the law in every country not to provide renters with running water.electrcity and gas. these must be provided to renters.

That's very true. That's why we are escalating our problem to the head of the community for them to address the issue. Hope it will turn out fine in the next few days. Thanks as usual.

Hi Bhebelen, I agree that the maintenance crew should have given ample notice to the residents if they are going to shut off the water supply for a period whether it's long or short. The residents have a right to know so that they can prepare by storing sufficient quantity of water for their needs during this outage. I think all residents should file a complaint with the person/s responsible so that future incidents like this can be avoided. In the meantime just bear with it and hope the water will return quickly.

We already forwarded the complaint to the higher ups. Hope they will give the appropriate attention. Otherwise, no choice, I may leave this place for good. For I don't want to compromise my health and the health of my family. One more thing, we are paying them the right amount and that the administrator of this building should give us also the needed attention on our needs. Hope she gets the needed water everyday. Thanks

I hate when that happens. For the first time, we also did not have any water last night! And I was about to take a bath to go to work! And then the worse thing happened. After a while, I heard that water had returned. And when I opened the faucet, there was this crazy, gargling sound, and what came out the faucet? Brown, dirty water! It was like a scene from a horror movie! It took awhile before the water became clean.

No, maybe not. I saw your profile and you're from Makati? I lived there for the last 4 years, but I'm in QC now. I see. Maybe it happened to the whole metro? Or to some cities? That happened around 9PM.

Oh, i see, I thought your my neighbor. I am hoping the water system her in Metro Manila can be fix easily to avoid any water outrage.
• Philippines

OMG! Are we neighbors? It also happened to us and i am really upset about it. I think the water full of dirty and rust which we can't even use it wash our feet.

I will be annoyed too when it happens without prior notice. Good thing this doesn't happen here in our place. They always notify us (NAWASA) when there's water cut off (which is very seldom) due to road works or any maintenance check up (drainage and pipe hose)
• Philippines
6 Oct 12
Hi jaiho2009, we don't have any problem with NAWASA but we got problem on our water tank here in the building and finally after 10 hours we have water again. thanks

Living without water is the hardest thing in the world. We can live without lights because we can always use batteries to have temporary lights but water has no other replacement but water. Bathing, cooking, cleaning---these are all very important things we need to do everyday in order to survive and all these require water.

You are absolutely right there. Hope we will be having unlimited water supply in the next few days, if not, I think, that will give us another issue. Thanks

Hi My friend, its already been 23 hours so I certainly hope that you have water by now..But I am sure it was a hassle with no pre notice of the water being shut off..Its a diferent story if there was a water pipe break but to just to do maintence work they really should have notified everyone... have a great weekend....!!!!!

Hi bjc66bjc, the problem has been fixed after 10 hours and after all the tenants got angry and non stop slamming their doors. We also talked the building owner if possible notify us before cutting off the water since most of us needs it and we need to be ready for it next time.

Oh, I hate when that happens! I had this happen to me one time. I was in the middle of dyeing my hair. Went to rinse the dye out and NO water. The maintenance man in the trailer court had neglected to tell people they were shutting the water off. My husband had to go to the store and buy water so I could rinse my hair. Boy, was I mad! The least the maintenance man could have done was tell everyone that we would not have water at a certain time so we could have been prepared.
• Philippines

I agree, like you i got mad to our maintenance because they cut off the water without prior notice, good thing i am not in the middle of something in the bathroom or else i do not know what to do. I think there are some people who has no consideration to others and just cut off the water without any notice in advice.

Things could be worse at least when you get it its drinkable. When I lived in Corinth, Greece, the water there was so bad that the neighbouring town Loutraki had places where the people from Corinth could come with their large water containers and fill up. Other than that they had to buy bottled water.

Hi 41CombedaleRoad, yesterday was really worst and very upsetting but at least we have water again but it's not drinkable, we preferred to buy bottle water which is more safe althought it's quite additional expenses from our weekly food budget. Thanks

Hi,maybe you can through other ways to obtain water, rather than complain against your building owner.I think this way is useless~

Hi milkliu, after tons of complains i purchased some water to use for washing our dishes, cooking and bathing, it was cost me $6.

Had I been in your position, I would be mad as well. Water is an everyday necessity, for cooking, for washing the dishes and the laundry and taking a bath! Well, hopefully the water in your building would come back soon.
