Here we go. The police served the warrant of arrest, again, to ex-Prez Gloria Macaoagal Arroyo, this time for misappropriation of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office. The police caught up with the diminutive Arroyo, although technically she can't really run, being out on bail from a yet to be solved corruption case, at the Veterans Hospital along North Avenue, QC. Mug shots and fingerprinting were done even if the subject was hooked on an IV. She needed hydration. Of course. Who would not, in such a situation.
Nine other personages were accused of malversation of the funds supposedly for the indigents. These people, two of whom surrendered to the police, tagging their lawyers along, and another one sent feelers of surrender today, another fled the country, and the rest are nowhere to be found, are all from high society, so the reports say.
The case is plunder and it is not a bailable crime. The bars are cold, for these socialites. The ex-prez seem to be getting the courtesy given a head of state. She is confined to a hospital presidential suite.
Criminals look one and the same to me. I admire the ones in Cebu, they dance their jail terms and let the world see it's alright to serve their sentences. They committed crimes.
Let's see how these socialites fare. Personally, who cares. They deserve it, am sure.

My concern is whether this case would lead to a conviction. Pres. Aquino has only a few years left in his term of office. If an Arroyo-ally would win the next presidential elections, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole plunder case is dropped.

I admire the government for chasing those corrupt officials. Their number one target of course Gloria Arroyo. now she is back to Veterans memoria medical center not to be hospitalized but to be jailed. this is the first plunder case filed against her and the third criminal case she is facing. she has been charged with election sabotage and corruption with the botched NBN deal with China.
She did these and she should be punish.

Well I do not know if they would find ways to put GMA in jail since her health is kind of protecting her to be imprisoned. And being a former president she is treated as special person just like Erap did when he was ousted. Instead of being imprisoned he was just confined in hospital and his resthouse in Rizal.
As for the others, I do not know but for sure but I think that their lawyers will fix things up to delay the case or question the technicalities again to stall it further.
For as long as they have the money to stall things up they would do everything in their hand to avoid the prison.

Hello Eileenleyva, It's really sad to know despite of her accomplishments that she had in the past, those are now over shadowed by her mistakes during her administrative ruling when she was president. I don't want to look pity on the woman that should have taken it as it is when she is being charge with plunder. sad to know also that she's a woman, which she should act a s abetter example than his predecessors, she didn't.

Hi,
It would be the same old song again. Mark this, they shall complain of this sickness and that sickness and you shall find them admitted to the hospital for "rest and treatment." It has been the usual way to escape being in prison nowadays, I just wish they shall get what they bargained for.
