Got GPS/Satnav?

My new phone has Google Maps and GPS,and I took it out in the car for the first time yesterday to try it out. I opted to go to my usual supermarket,so gave it the details.it seemed to show all the side turnings off the main road, and the map was accurate, including a couple of recent roundabouts that had been added locally. The only thing was,it didn't seem to know where the supermarket entrance was..The side of the building "Fronts" the main road where there's no Entrance, whereas the public entrance involves a right turn off the main road before this to get into the car park. At Least It got me to the right area where I knew where I was going anyway! I retraced the route going home, and a nice touch I thought as I was turning into my street was that the screen then changed into a "Streetview" 360" shot of the end point! Do you use GPS? Do you find it a useful accessory?

Ihave to admit I will use it when I have no idea, but generally, I am not really keen on using sat navs as everytime I do, they seem to take me the wrong way! I prefer using a good map and knowing the mains points to turn off for and then following that - it stood me in good stead for years. Only now, will I use it more as my husband prefers to and will put it on!

Maybe he was using a satnav with out of date lane guidance..or maybe just not looking at the road markings around him at the time..

Heck,I'll even talk to the self service checkout machines in the supermarket! "Please place your bags in the Bagging area" -"I did that already!"

I have a TomTom GPS. I've used it a few times and it worked great but the last time I used it, I think it lost it's "mind"! I was going to another county to my son's and daughter-in-law's baby shower. I had never been there before so I used the GPS. It got me almost there when it suddenly had me turn around and start going back home! HUH????? I had to call the house where the shower was being held and get directions by phone. On the way back home, TomTom once again picked up the directions and got me almost all the way home. AT OUR MAILBOX, it told me to make a u-turn at my earliest convenience and go back the other way!!! At least this time I knew how to get home from our mailbox. lol I'm not sure what was going on with TomTom. My husband updated it via the internet but I still don't think that was the issue. I haven't used it since that time because I'm afraid to. I have no desire to get lost again! Maybe I should use it for things nearby where I actually know how to get to just to see if it's working correctly now before I try it out on something where I wouldn't have a clue if I got lost. I'm glad to hear that yours works and I hope it continues to.

Yep,they can have a mind of their own,at times...going to a strange place, passing through a town one time, the (Older) non-upgradeable unit I have had me take a left turn..thinking it might have been a shortcut,I went along with it..and found myself in a housing estate where it then advised me to make a u-turn! Could have been worse..You see those fails on youtube where people have driven into a river,or taken a truck up a narrow lane and gotten stuck..so long as the maps stay updated,I'll be happy with it..
