In fact I don't think you shall be so worried about it. And I don't think you have to find the free typing software. According to my experience, as long as you have a text chat with your friends online and it already will improve your typing speed. Online chatting is the best way to practise the typing.

Suniega, best way to practice fast typing is by learning the tricks of typing, understanding the keyborad and its functions, placement, etc. and finally practice it and overcome set goals and challenges. A typing software is the best option for that. They'll teach you and test you. Soon you'll be an expert. Good luck!
