What Are The Discussions That May Likely To Get Good Responses?

I am on this site right from its inception and I have seen the ups and owns of this site, become it has become such a wonderful site today. I have been writing for various sites for last eight years or so. Like any typical writer or an author I am also interested in getting good viewer ship or readership to my published work. Having gathered so much of experience I have made few observations and arrived to a conclusion that certain types of discussions or articles fetch good readers. This doesn't mean that I have implemented this yard stick to my writings and I am getting a booming readership. Though this is my observation I stick to write the articles of my likings which some times get good number of readers and other time a few.
Here I am not going to talk about SEO techniques, Keyword usage and other technical aspects which may fetch us traffic to our write ups but that is a fake traffic or a manipulated traffic where people come across out article accidentally. I am talking about the actual interest of the people which may make them to get attracted towards an article or blog or discussion.
In my opinion the following type of articles have more chances of getting good viewer ships.
1. The articles or discussions where we discuss about earning money online generally are seen fetching more of traffic as people are interested in making money on line.
2. The discussions or blogs which are simple in nature and when a reader associate himself with the situation then there are every chances that we can get good responses.
3. Topics related to health and fitness are hot cakes in the writing market.
4. Topic pertaining to how to do certain things ... have been popular right from the beginning.
5. Self development and educational topics where people are interested to develop themselves may fetch good traffic.
6. People avoid in participating in the topics which may create controversies, but then some times controversial things can get us good traffic too.
7. People may find it bit inconvenient to talk on religion, politics and the serious types of discussions which requires lot of in-depth study.
8. People hate o participate in the topics which requires some references and statistics to prove their point as this would demand some more time from them to spend to do their home work.
9. The Personal topics which are day to day type ones with lot of emotions involved in them tend to get good responses.
10. Topics pertaining to kids and pets have fairly good chances of getting more traffic.
I am sure together with the above list you also must have made some more observations to assess which type of topics get maximum traffic to our work on a writing site. Could you kindly give some opinions about this topic to help me and the other members of the site to have a better traffic?

If you are referring to articles that are paid for by various sites, I am a disillusioned soul! I did attempt writing for various sites and finally settled down for only one that does not depend on number of views. Here too I was upset to see that writers use a software that creates 'original' articles on any subject under the sun thus killing their own ability to write. This is pure and simple murder!

Hello Dear Allknowing! It is very disheartening to know that people are using some soft ware to create 'original’ articles! In fact I fail to understand how can software create an original article in first place? after all soft ware is nothing but a list of commands to be followed in a mechanical fashion. I failed to understand about its functioning! Can't these articles be traced out and be rejected by the admin. dear Allknowing?
Yes I agree with you that using such oft ware by the people who can write is nothing but murdering the art of writing! I really feel bad about the people who are using and sincerely request and appeal to them not to use such devices for earning few cents. The opportunity what we are getting on various sites to present our writing skills should be sincerely appreciated and the advantage should be used in a positive manners.
Writing regularly on writing sites one like this, helps in honing our writing skills. We are getting readymade readers for our write ups here in the form of our friends who are very generous in helping out us in all possible ways. In conclusion I would once again request all my friends who are using the soft ware of creating some original writings to get back to their original writings and show the talent of their writing to the World which is eagerly waiting for it! I did take up this issue with the site where I found this malpractice but they have not acted on it. Obviously the faster one writes the more will the site earn also as the requester pays for posting their projects on that site. By using the software the writer produces impeccable articles which are neither copied nor spun - they are simly original articles!!!
Credit should go to the one who has created this software!!

hi,
What i understand about my lot for a year now is even if you start about 'how you could not wake up on time', or do you brush your teeth twice types of discussions can also fetch good responses as they being the our routine in life. I think anything which is regular and happenning here is a big hit. Plus the wonderful friends make it a super duper hit too, though i never remember any of my discussions being rated as highest...LOL

I fully agree with you dear Viju! Here our friends are interested in participating in some light discussions pertaining to our day to day life activities. They are mostly here to spend some quality time in relaxed moods while making some cents as incentive to their work!
I recall receiving about 50 responses few months back for my simple discussion, 'Do you like the Sales man following you in the Departmental store?' (May be little difference in the heading).I fact when I initiated I was not sure that any body will be really interested in this topic. But having seen the response I realized that it was not only me there are several people who don't like this chasing by the sales person in a departmental stores!
Yes, I agree that it is a must that we should maintain a regular attendance on this site and we must be in touch with our friends here to have a nice interaction. This is a natural thing as it happens in our day to day life1 Thanks for the lovely response dear Viju!

Yes, some times a good topic gets unnoticed! I have discussed about this in the past as there are many factors responsible for this like time of posting the topic and also the time of the week! Like during weekends people want to have their week ends to be enjoyed out doors so we tend to get fewer responses during week ends. During festival season also people are not interested in participating on the site.
In India we may like to miss such sites if we have One day World Cup matches going on! Some times an interesting discussion gets burrowed deep because of other discussions which have been posted immediately after the post!
Thus in my opinion there are many contributing factors which can be responsible for deciding the traffic to our discussions. Though things are different at different sites, the ultimate thing which attracts the traffic is active participation and always remaining in the eyes of the members! Thanks!

Hi,
That's right. Sometimes even a good topic go unnoticed too. It is my experience that if the topic fits the intrest of most of the lotters, it sure gets a lot of responses.
I am not very sure about other sites as i think they too have their category and readers / viewers / responders.

From what I've noticed, the discussions regarding peoples everyday life experiences seems to generate a lot of traffic. I think people generally like to have casual discussions, not ones that require too much deep thought but rather just commenting on someones experience.

I fully agree with you dear Jshean! People are interested in day to day issues and they just want to participate here as if they are chatting with their friends on day to day basis. Casual discussions they don't require a lot of research work or supporting statistics so people are interested in participating is such topics.
By discussing day to day issues many of us even vent out our feelings and emotions out and this becomes a god source of getting rid of the day t day stress!
Yes, sharing others feeling and experiences always adds to our knowledge and it won't even require deep thoughts or taxation to our brains! Thanks a lot for your response dear Jshean!

I am a bit confused over here. Are you asking about the discussions on myLot or are discussing about the writing sites in general or maybe even the blogs and other places.
I know one thing for sure - here at Mylot (as this is only place where I write these past so many months) - if you are honest and keep getting anything which interests your friends and fellow lotters, it does stand a better chance of being seen and responded to.
I would love to apply the same for other places of writing too but then, it is a weird big place out there and if you dont market yourself right (kind of blow your own trumpet) you are not going to gain visibility sooner.

In fact I was referring Mylot as well as other sites too! I agree in Mylot the key factor is to be present on the site on regular basis and keeping touch with our friends here! Day to day discussions with our friends fetch response to any type of discussions initiated by us so far it should not be too serious in nature!
I know many friends who are quite senior like ms Diana, Stanley etc are deliberately meeting and exchange their views with us on some one else's discussion which makes me very happy. It is because of such members who are so sociable and make the site live one, I like to be on this site for a maximum time!
Yes, our participation on this site also makes a difference! If we are frequent visitor and sincerely commenting back to the responses we are getting and responding to the new discussions then we are guaranteed to get back the responses to our initiated discussions.
Yes regarding other sites, I know we need to do many things there to attract the traffic like SEO etc. But I never tried anything so far as I feel it is getting an artificial traffic for our blogs or write ups and for making few extra cents I can't do that! you failed to mention hobbies like soccer, tennis. they always seem to generate good traffic.
topics that broach on health do generate good readership; everyone knows that. you failed mention if health topics in general or what specific health topics generate better readership. obesity has been much in the news recently, but one sees little of autism or mad cow disease.

Hello Dear Mydanods! Yes I appreciate that I have forgotten to mention about the hobbies. Yes I recall having some good responses from my dear friends on this site when I have started some discussions on this topic. Hobbies are all time favorite topics as they are the real likings of the people.
Yes, topic o health also generates good traffic. Yes people are more ken to discuss about the topics pertaining to fitness and health, I agree that people are suffering from obesity now a days and they are ken onto getting the discussions pertaining to this problem. Some serious diseases may not be the favorite topics for most of the people but disorders like Alzheimer Syndrome etc are widely discussed.
