Asha Bhosle’s Daughter Varsha Bhosle Committed Suicide!

The famous Bollywood singer Asha Bhosle’s daughter Varsha Bhosle committed suicide on 08th of October 2012 at her Peddar Road based residence at Mumbai. She used to stay in ‘Prabhu Kunj’ Apartments where her aunt Lata Mangeshkar is also living. Asha Bhosale was in Singapore on her concerts at the time of the incidence and her aunt Lata Mangeshkar was also not present at her place. A staff member from the ‘Gamdevi’ police station in Mumbai, under whose jurisdiction Varsha Bhosle’s residence falls, confirmed about the suicide but has not given any further details. Varsha shot herself on head with a Belgium make pistol and no body has any clue about the pistol and its origin so far. She was alone when this incident has taken place and there was no suicide note left by her. Upon finding her dead body she was rushed to a near by local hospital where she was declared as brought dead. Her body was dispatched to JJ Hospital to conduct post mortem. The maid servant Deepali mane knocked the door of Varsha Bhosle’s flat at around 10.00 am, upon finding no response she contacted the driver who told her that Varsha must have gone some where out and called the maid to come after some time. In her second visit when there was no response from inside the flat she again contacted the driver and the driver entered Varsha’s flat through Lata Mangeshkar’s flat which was adjacent to it, to find Varsha’s body lying in the pool of blood. 56 years Old Varsha was the second daughter of Asha Bhosle from the three children she had from her first husband Ganpatrao Bhosle. Varsha was a free lance journalist and worked for many lading dailies as columnist. She was active for rediff, Sunday observer and Gentleman Magazine in 1993. She was a good singer and was play back singer for few Hindi and Marathi movies. She used to accompany her mother in various concerts too. Varsha had a troubled married life. She was divorced from Hemant Kenkre who was a free lance sports journalist and thereafter she was suffering from depression. It is reported that she already tried twice to commit suicide in 2008 by having over dose of sleeping pills. She was saved by the doctors then. Together with famous fashion photographer Gautam Rajadakshya, Varsha wanted to start an orphanage. Unfortunately Gautam passed away last year and she was distraught after his death and was under medication for depression. May her soul rest in peace!
