Where to download free music

Would you know of safe sites to download music. I am looking for Indian and English music. Is it safe to use free songs sites that have mp3. I need to upload in itunes for the apple devices.

Just popping in a warning to be very careful where you download from, as if it is free then it's quite possibly illegal, which is very much not safe. There appears to be a trend of increased monitoring and punishment for illegal downloads.
You wouldn't want to be in prison for the sake of a song
