Melamine added to milk.

Today one ‘GUAWLA’ (people who keep cows/buffalo and sell milk) was arrested, the milk had Melamine in it, this is poison, which damages the kidneys and causes cancer.
Usually the milk sellers add water (sometimes dirty water), some milk have more than 60% water; they will never give you pure milk; though they charge 30 rupees for one liter; the cheaper is the cost, the more water it has!!!

They add wheat flower or peanut paste to make the specific gravity equal to that of pure milk; so that a ‘lacto-meter’ can’t catch the cheating.
They add little yellow color (this is usually cheap synthetic color, again CANCER CAUSING); or pinch of turmeric paste; the milk looks yellowish like pure milk.
Melamine is used in Melamine wares that looks like china-clay crockery; used in hard boards; but never used in food articles.
These sellers also make artificial milk using cheap inedible vegetable oils, urea and paints; some were caught in the past.
So where the morality gone; should they do anything they like for money?
What is the situation in your country?
When I told this to a friend in USA she said, they add water to milk or milk to water?
Please share your valued tips and comments.
Thanks in advance.

Dear Maa
People are happy to do anything to increase their earnings. They really don’t care about the health of others but think about the profit only. If water is added, at least, it won’t harm anyone even though the quality goes. But using dangerous things for making money is a serious matter for sure. We are using milk packets from AMUL, and really believe it is pure. But don’t know about the reality. I heard, once a milk man caught, as he wrapped earthworms in a cloth and put it in the milk (What a pity).
I believe those who do wrong acts will get punished for sure sooner or later.

This is serious and all who did this must be put behind bars. How callous our fellowmen have become because of their greediness to earn more money. They even put poisons just to make it cheaper and unknowingly we buy those milk thinking we're saving money yet we are putting our health in danger.

It is sad to hear and see just what people will do for the sake of filling up their coffers even to the extent of "killing" someone for it.
From a consumer's standpoint, I believe that we just need to be careful and not be too greedy to the extent of being gullible where we go for things with prices that are too good to be true. Businessmen are human and likely to forget their morality and even principles too.
I suppose when there's no greed then there would not be gullibility.

I buy only pasteurized milk from big companies, Kalyni, and they have to make their products according to the hygiene laws. I don`t know what happens in small country places where there are still artisan foods such as bread. I`m sure many people try to get away with some scams to get more money. It`s a pity!

Actually about 2 years ago, it was all over the news here in the Philippines that some milk imported from China were with melamine. Thus, the people were warned of buying them.
Since that news , the people seem to be afraid of buying foods that came from China, not to undermine China.

Hi,
It is very unfair that poisonous melamine is added to milk. I have seen that the quantity of milk is increased by adding water to it. But I haven't heard any other method of increasing quantity. Some people are selfish and they want to earn money by doing any evil or bad things. They don't care about the lives of the others. They want only to increase their income.

Dear madam
I always expect something similar happening with the dairy milk too here in our state - the OMFED. I never would have said it but recently when the milk packet bursted and some of that milk was on the floor, I forgot cleaning it due to some other reasons. When I tried cleaning up the mess (after an hour or so) there were stains on the floor which wont go. This has left me thinking that is this chemicals which are being served to us by our diary which is government run...
Personally, the need for money and to get more money, has inculcated this carelessness and immorality into many vendors all around in the state. And also there is no easy legal way to nail them

OMFED says, pure cow milk, well how?
It collects milk from societies, they give cow, buffalo, goat, even camel milk, yes i am not kidding, there are people who live near hirakud dam, in the islands inside the reservoir, there are tall thick grass, they rear camels and feed them with this

Melamine tainted milk had already been identified in our country some one or two years ago already coming from another Asian country, everything has already been pulled out from the grocery shelves and are banned and most Filipinos buy milk only from trusted brands
, Sorry but we no longer support or buy dairy products from this country, some people would kill just to make a profit

He should be put behind bars for doing this and it is serious matter because many people are suffering from health problems and it is due to what we eat. I knew that in milk they add water but not all these melamine and stuff. This is crazy and madness for money. These kind of people should be ejected in space. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.
