In my home everybody other than me like hot chapati so I make at the time of lunch. Specially my dever never like Cold chapati they anger on me if any day I not make hot chapati. My sweet and danger hubby like Cold also not necessary every day hot chapati. If member one by one is coming from shop for eating then I prepare chapati on Gas. But I think more Gas spend for it for Every time preparing hot chapati. What you think this is good habit eat hot chapati or you have no problem in cold chapati.

Hi surekha, Well I would love to eat hot chapatis, but I don't mind eating if they are cold, because I eat rice more than chapatis, thanks to growing up in the south. Wastage of gas it is, that is why when mom serves chapatis she eats after she has served all of us, or you could probably serve hot chapatis in an air tight thermal container, that is the common idea, but yes it has to be served soon after cooking all chapatis.

Hi Surekha, actually mam I hate chapathi because I am from south INDIA eat rice. And we prefer tiffin on Saturdays. Actually as per my duty I have to move all over INDIA. So, where ever I go I am facing chapathis. So, I am unable to eat continuously 3 times a day. So, I prefer rice.

Hmmm I know south Indian main food is rice when I was in chennai for two days my cousin sister makes rice both time in lunch and dinner but she prepared chapati also because she knews we not like more rice. You are right in India most of the sides people like chapati and roti. Dont say hate because this is also a part of our food. I cant say I hate rice but can say I like less than chapati.

Hi Surekha- I like to have hot chapatis. I know it is difficult for the person who cooks it because she is required to in front of the Gas stove. Hope you prepare nice and round chapatis and your devar and hubby love to have it.

surekha: In USA what we do -- we buy chapatis made in packets of ten-- keep it fridge --then heat it when needed in microwave. it suits. you need not be in kitchen all along. but your in laws who are used to present method may not approve of this.

Hi dear, First of all, I don’t eat chappati everyday, when I eat I prefer hot only. I really don’t like if it is cold. I know it is difficult to stay in kitchen and make chapatti for each and every one at home. If in summer season, we ourselves get cooked. You can make it in one time then either keeps it in a casserole or make heat again when your devar came. You can reheat in gas very easily if there is no Oven available at home. You must learn quick and easy techniques to make everyone happy at home and at the same time you have to reduce the work load too. So act wisely dear.

hellooo dear Yes this is very difficult to make fresh chapati again and again because in my house everyone's eating time is separate. He not like reheat chapati also but I have no choice to leave cold chapati for him. So I prepare hot chapati always. But my sweet and danger hubby is like cold chapati also.

surekha: ahaha ! I like hot chapathis for lunch and dinner. But what you can do Surekha, is prepare them once and keep inside a container which retains it hot. if necessary you can get it reheated through microwave for ten seconds per chapathi. this will be good.

Dear Surekharathi....... Your question is so simple, but I don't know why it is making me so angry. I can understand you very well. You are a typical Indian daughter-in-law who is supposed to be a super-woman and who according to the in-laws is a machine which never gets tired. When we go to our hubby's house, we actually become an unpaid full time servants and this we do very willingly and are very happy to think that we are doing our duty. In India we women are like frogs in pond who thinks that only this pond is the whole world. I was same when I was in India, but when I came to Israel in the age of 38, I saw another world.......men and women equally sharing all work in the house and outside the house.Men cook, wash dishes, clean the house and after the child is born, they take full care of child too. Woman is not a servant, but she also has her own identity and she has right to live for herself also and not only for her family. India still has to make lot of changes to make and Indian women share the equality with men. Ok now to the point...there is no need to make hot chapatis for everyone. Make it only once in the afternoon and later on you can just heat them on gas or in microwave and they become as fresh as they were. In the evening go out for a walk and get some fresh air. As for you Dever, tell him to show his anger on his wife when she comes and not on you. I am sure that you are a housewife fully dependent on others...but try to change in future. Get out of the house , do some job.....find yourself..because you may be a wife, mother etc etc, but you are also a woman called surekha.....and surekha can do much more than she actually knows.......and sorry if I hurt you. I just cannot digest injustice...........

In winter it is hard to eat cold chapatis. But summer no problem in eating cold chapatis. It is better you bring one hot case to keep chapatis hot for you dever. Some time I like to eat cold chapatis in winter. I like to eat these with butter or Desi Ghee. Ask you dever try cold chapati with butter/desi ghee.

We have hot case and in this at least till 2 hours chapati is hot but my dever like instantly after making on Gas. We always use Deshi Ghee not use Dalda. But my husband and parents in law like chapati when put in hot case not necessary every time hot is needed.

Hi, I am ready to eat cold chapati but I also like to eat hot chapatis. When chapatis are cold I eat only three chapatis but when hot chapatis are served then I eat more than three chapatis. There is nothing wrong in eating cold chapatis but we should not eat stale chapatis. The served hot is always preferred by everyone.

Well chapati is great with curry. In our place most curries served with chapati or rotti.I love eating them during winter. During my visit to India I have tried most chapati and rotti and so I love them both!
