Bhebe, i am sure your first baking experience must be a success until you wanted to bake again. Have your father in-law ever eaten any of your baked breads or cakes? Maybe he had preference to eat certain types of bread or cakes. only when you are sure what is his favorite bread or cake, then it would be easier for you to bake it for him. Besides that, try to bake something that is easy, so you can have for time to be spend together with your family. Have a nice family get together....

As you have wrote, your father in law is excited to taste your freshly baked bread and cakes, then just bake your usual bread and cakes. Banana cake maybe a good one for health conscious and oat meal breads and biscuit will do.

Personally I would bake something that I have had a lot of practice baking to minimise the chance of something going wrong. If I had to bake something for somebody i have never met before I would bake some brownies because I have made them quite a few times and touch wood they havent gone wrong yet and they taste really good. But if was going to make something I had never made before I would have a practice before I made them for the person.

Baking is one of the things that i cannot do. I have tried baking for twice already, but it seems that my cake doesn't rise that much . Thus, i gave up learning how to bake and would just buy from the pastry shop when we feel like eating one. I congratulate you my friend that you can bake anything. Well, you don't have to think of something to bake for him yet. Just let him have a taste of all that you bake. Then before he goes home, you can ask him what he wants you to bake for him, so he can maybe have it as a token from you

That sounds quite exciting! One of my favorite things when it comes to cooking is finding new recipes especially if there's someone willing to try my creations (my family are my guinea pigs, very willing though). I like looking for recipes online and in recipe books. Often I browse blogs for inspiration. Though I usually end up with more recipes than I actually end up cooking. Have you decided what to bake yet? If you're thinking of cakes, perhaps you can cook a red velvet cupcake? It was very popular in food blogs a while back. Of course you can never go wrong with a classic chocolate cake or brownies. I have yet to try baking bread, though I've been meaning to. I'm too scared to knead dough, afraid that I'll just end up ruining it. But I also can't find myself willing to invest in a mixer that can knead bread. But as others have said, I'm sure your father-in-law will enjoy whatever recipe you choose to bake as long as it's from the heart. Happy baking!

Hi weye13, since yesterday i started to bake some breads like banana, chocolate, raisins, tuna and corn bread, all of them turn delicious according to my parents and husband. I also bake carrot and mango cake but they both turn too sweet for me, i think need to make a new one today. I know he will like whatever bread or cakes i bake for him but i really want to impress him and want to make something special for him. Thanks for you response.

Wow, good luck! Maybe you can add fruits to the cakes, dry fruits to the bread, use whole grain flour instead of the regular bleached and refined flours. Your attitude is nice and positive! Surely, whatever you cook will turn out as sweet too!
