I have several baby powder containers that we were not able to use. My wife was told that they are not good for babies. We were told there are harmful effects if the baby inhales the powder that goes airborne when we use it. Do youp believe that it can harm your kids. My kids are bigger now but still we do not apply baby poweder on them. I may think of other ways to use the powder. Maybe use it to make the billiard stick glide on my fingers. On second thought, I do not play billiards. Hahaha! Any ideas where I can use them. Thanks in advance.

I used to put it in my child's shoes. She had very sweaty feet and her shoes stank even with wearing socks. I would place the powder in the shoes when she was not around. sprinkle it on the carpet, leave it for a few minutes and then vacuum. It can help absorb odors, or at least it seems to help clear up the wet dog smell that seems to get into the carpet. As for the harmful effects, powder made in countries that do not regulate what goes in it has had harmful effects, there is also the idea that it can get in the eyes and cause irritation.

I was told the same thing years ago when my daughter was born. I was also told how to use it and not have that problem. What I would do is pour a small amount of the powder into my hand then very slowly would sprinkle it onto her. Not to cause the powder screen that you get when you disperse the powder from the container. I was lucky to have a doctor that would provide you with info and then show you how to use it properly. My daughter has never had a problem and we continue to use baby powder even now. Its a must in my household. I would use the powder in your shoes as it will keep them fresh and keep your feet sweat free.

Baby powder is bad for babies. If they inhale it they can actually die from it because it chokes them. Same as if they inhaled flour. I read as well that using baby powder on a baby girl can cause them cancer later in life because it can get up in their urethra and cause problems. I have used baby powder down there at times on myself it helps stop itching but I only do it very rarely because of the risk if problems from it.

Thanks for sharing this discussion. Well i think baby powders are safe for the babies only if they are used wisely. One cannot spread powder on the babies randomly just to make them beautiful. babies are so much sensitive and they have to be groomed with baby powders very carefully and they are absolutely OK for their skin also as they all are testified ones. I think u can use them on a carrom board to make the surface plain and smooth. What say?

The powder is fine, but we need extra care. You are right about accidentally inhale a powder particles, it can cause aspiration for babies.

Baby powder is meant to keep the baby's butt dry in the diaper and keep from chafing. I used powder on all of my kids and they turned out fine lol...put it in your shoes to make your feet smell good when you take your shoes off! I snuck some baby powder in my husband's work boots before because they smell bad and the powder keeps his feet from sweating at work and the boots are a little more tolerable!
