Home & room decors

The past months have been a rough ride for our family because my parents started adding 2 more floors but just the half portion of the entire house. But it's really difficult since we don't want to spend extra money on rentals to transfer our furniture etc. So we needed to live everyday with everything mixed on our living room with dusts, noise plus no more privacy. We needed the extra floors because our vicinity is a flood-prone area. Actually last August we were flooded again but since the renovation was almost done we were able to put all things at a higher ground and sleep comfortably while there was water downstairs. 2009 was our worst nightmare because everything was covered in water & mud. Anyhow, with Christmas fast approaching, my mom and I spent a lot for this year from our own beds, other room essentials and some things for our new living room. I bought our first LED TV at a bargain price which I saw from the internet but take note it was a newly released model unit. It was really cool. It felt like I was already moving into my own home since it all came from my pocket. Some of the things that I bought are from group-buying sites I know. Hopefully they are all durable and by end of year that will be my last excess spending that I will do. =D

I like to decorate my house as well. We have done renovation lately and I have painted all rooms differently. I like to make it as unique as possible. .. I am sure your house is looking brand new now. By the way i have not bought anything online as yet. I do need a nice tv. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

How I wish I could paint my room with my favorite color. Since I still live with my parents and my mom is a meticulous type, I can't convince her. I just buy things for my room that I really like from colors to designs. Maybe I can post it here once all is done.

I know what you mean. Me and my husband bought a house and it was just finished. Now we have to renovate because the interior and lot area is up to us to fix up. We are estimating quite a budget to make it liveable according to our vision of our home. We might start on it next year because I am about to go out of the country for some business, and we don't want the workers to be just working there without either one of us.

That's so cool. It's actually more convenient to do all the interior when nobody's living unlike what happened. My mom wanted to re-do some of the completed works like installed cabinets that are roughly made in the inside, varnish marks on our walls and a few more things I can't remember. Because we wanted to live in already we compromised our standard which is a bad thing and hurts sometimes considering the money spent.

We did a remodel in our home a while back, changing the water pipes as they needed to be repaired, the kitchen and bathrooms were remodelled as they had to break the tiles and walls to get to the pipes so I can understand what a confusion it is having work done in your home while still living in it. I am very lucky as we live on top of a hill and it is unlikely that we will ever get flooded, what we do get is tiles flying off with the wind, mostly from our neighbours apartment building. I hope your home will be finished enough to have a wonderful Christmas.

I almost got depressed the past months because I can't find and wear most of the office clothes that I have. So I needed to wear tops + blazers & slacks only. It's really inconvenient but finally I am able to use my computer without somebody behind my back asking what I am doing or who's picture I am looking at.

So, was that typhoon Ondoy that devastated your house? I am glad that you and your family have already moved on from that sad incident. With the flooding always possible when it rains, people are now into adding floors into their houses, like you do. At least, you now can sleep comfortably without fear of being flooded again. Just bear with the renovation dusts . At least you were able to but cheaper furnitures online.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Glad to hear that u guys are so much into decorating your house and very much looking for its final touches. I know the initial task of house making is very tough but in the process u accept the reality that if u do not take pain, then u wont get a perfect house. i am sure u will have a great house at the end with all your hard work. What say?
