Now they are selling fake fossils / myLot

Trilobite fossil - This is probably fake, but really this is how a trilobite looked like 270 million years ago.

I just found out after seeing a picture of a trilobite fossil, that it was fake. For those of you who don't know, the trilobites were among us 270 million years ago and they flourished in the oceans. Now some smart people decided to sell some substitutes and call them "fosils". Fake minerals, fake fossils, what's next on the list? These animals are quite new to me, if you want more info on them, tell me. Have you ever studied them at school?

i have heard and studies about the fossils in my college as i am from biology stream, read about the worlds largest dinosaur fossil, elephant which is in news recently, and many other things. But i never heard about the fake fossils, i mean i never ever thought that fossils can be fake, so now came to know that people can even do this, to earn or for fame , its not really good one. can you give me some more details about fake fossils, any link ?

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well it is pretty bad to hear how people are making fool of others by selling and publicizing about the fossil. Rather than making people aware about the fossil and about its importance they are doing such disgraceful activity. To be very honest i have no idea about the fossil or the animal and would definitely love to know more about it. What say?
