it looks like the wwe tag team division is heating up and ...

although i prefer to see legit tag teams, i really like the new pairings that they come up with. i've always been a big fan of tag teams... the hart foundation, demolition, road warriors (called legion of doom when they crossed over to then wwf), the natural disasters (earthquake and typhoon, formerly known as tugboat but then he turned into a heel and become tugboat) and the new age outlaws. of course, there are tag teams that were made out of alliances, from the obvious ones, dx, the brothers of destruction, nexxus, the corre, legacy, and the not so obvious ones, jeri-show (chris jericho and big show), the miz-show (the miz and big show), team co-bro (santino and zack ryder), team rhodes scholars (cody rhodes and damien sandow). although not a new concept, i like the idea that wwe creative is trying to create more tag teams and has featured these new tag teams in a tag team tournament. now we see the prime time players, primo and epico, the usos, sin cara and rey mysterio, and the current tag team champions, team hell no (kane and daniel bryan) in most of the shows of wwe. i think the tag team division is an underdeveloped one and would like to see more tag teams in the future. i don't mind seeing wrestler A being paired up with wrestler B all of a sudden and they will start competing as a tag team as long as the story line is well thought of. however, when wrestler A is just bunched with wrestler B for no apparent and obvious reason, then it kinda defeats the real reason of putting up a tag team in the first place. anyway, i really like where the tag team division is heading especially with the tag team tournament winding up in wwe's next pay per view 'hell in a cell'. team hell no is currently waiting for the winner of between the team of rey mysterio and sin cara against team rhodes scholars. personally, i like to see a triple threat match on 'hell in a cell'. for future matches, i'd love to see a tag team tornado tournament or even a tag team steel cage match. anyway, i'm big on the prime time players. i think the team is big on talent and skills. they can leave all the talking to their manager a.w. and they will do all the damage in the ring. i'm also intrigued by the tandem of justin gabriel and tyson kidd unofficially dubbed as 'international airstrike'. i think this is one team that has serious potential. another team that i really liked and i'm sad to see the partnership end is r-truth and kofi kingston. although both are really great singles competitors, (although, i'm not too keen with the heel run/little jimmy gimmick of r-truth) i think them pairing together is better for both of them and for wwe in general. so, my fellow mylotters, what do you think of the current wwe tag teams? who were your favorite tag teams from before and who are your current favorite ones? what do you think can wwe do to further improve the tag team division? plus, do you see any other usual pairings between individual wrestlers that might click and work and make the tag team division significant again? feel free to chime in fellow mylotters!!! cheers and happy mylotting!!!

I love team hell no! I always love the idea of 2 people who hates each other becoming a successful tag team and kept on winning despite of hating each other. Its Its really hilarious. There is a new tag team that I found awkward though, The 3 man band. ever since Drew McIntyre survived the assault from his abusive wife, WWE turned him into a jobber and now he is in a stable with Heathe Slater... On the other hand, part of me wishes it is the Uso's and Primo and Epico feuding for tag team titles as they were the real tag teams not random guys paired together.

hi there capt albert whisker. how have you been? hope all is well with you? been awhile since i've seen you here in the discussion boards. anyway, glad that you were able to chime in one of my discussions. i'm on the fence about team hell no. i like both kane and bryan as individual competitors. as a tag team together, i really don't buy the anger management sessions that they had. the promo just wasn't working for me. the whole 'hug it out' thing was just a waste of program time in my opinion. anyway, they didn't lose the tag team titles in hell in a cell but they did lose the match so we will be seeing more of team rhodes scholars against team hell no. that is a good thing in my book. the more tag teams involved for the tag team titles, the more i like it. i agree with you about wwe pushing 'real' tag teams over teams made up of paired superstars. i think the usos, primo and eipco, and of course, the prime time players get more fights and air time. actually, a tag team tornado tournament sounds about just right. i would love to these three tag teams slug it out with either the team of rey mysterio and sin cara or the team of justin gabriel and tyson kidd. i know that the last two teams are more of the 'random wrestlers paired-up together' category but these last two tag teams i've mentioned, i actually see potential and chemistry. i still think that among all the tag teams mentioned in the thread, it is the prime tiem players that deserve the biggest push as they can be an effective heel tag team. about the 3 man band, i would like to see these trio be more involved in individual matches wherein they would just go on a rampage against two other wrestlers who were originally pitted against one another. they would interfere and beat down on both wrestlers. similar to what the mexicools were doing back in the day. or even to what evolution and nexxus did.interfere a match in the middle of it and just beat both of the wrestlers senseless. i wasn't aware of the bit about drew mcintyre being involved in a domestic assault. i'll read about that in a bit. i do agree that drew mcintyre really hasn't lived up to expectations. no less than vince mcmahon trumpeted his arrival in wwe and he hasn't held on to a title significantly. anyway, thanks for participating and happy mylotting!!!

another update here, last night in smackdown, both rey mysterio and sin cara were in singles action against the prime time players. darren young defeated sin cara. rey mysterio evened up the field with a win over titus o'neil in an impromptu match. it ain't a tag team match but i do hope these single matches lead to better tag team matches among these teams in the near future.

The tag team division in WWE is the highlight of the company these days for me. If you would have said that a year ago, I would have laughed at such a thought. But it is true, there are times where the tag team division really makes up the bulk of what I like every week on RAW. Is it as good as the heights of the 1980s or 1990s? Not quite at that level, but I think its the strongest its been in since at least 2006-2007(the glory days of MNM, London/Kendrick, Cade and Murdoch, the Hardy Boyz, Deuce and Domino, and more). Kidd and Gabriel have been a tag team that I have enjoyed watching, since the series of matches that they had with Hawkins and Reks on NXT and Superstars. If Team Rhodes Scholars win the titles, I hope to see a prolonged series of matches between those teams. Tag teams really do give a chance for younger superstars to develop, as it hides a lot of weaknesses that they might have in the realm of singles wrestling. Hopefully the tag team renaissance is not a fleeting thing that will burn out for the end of the year. Still it's given some people plenty to do, so good on them.

hi there megamatt. i do miss those times when there was a lot of buzz in the tag team division. those teams that you mentioned were really good back then. mnm, london/kendrick, lance cade and murdoch, the hardy boyz, deuce and domino, were some of the more popular tag teams at that time. i also recall that there were individual pairings back then like rey mysterion/rob van dam, rey mysterion/eddie guerrero, and rey mysterio/batista. that was a lot of rey mysterio. lol! i agree about the tag team pairing of tyson kidd and justin gabriel. they are exciting to watch. like what i wrote, i don't see team rhodes scholars winning the tag team championship belts so soon. perhaps next year or even in the next pay per view. what i do like to see are more tag team matches in both smackdown and raw. i don't get to watch nxt and superstars that often but if tag teams are getting featured there, then i'll make it a point to watch. thanks for participating in this discussion as i always look forward to reading your thoughts about wwe and wrestling. cheers and happy mylotting!!!
